Emergency! Can't Update my xbox while tethering!

I am tethering from my phone to laptop to xbox via pdanet and a new update came out recently but i havent really tried to update til black ops came out today! I won't be home or anywhere near a wifi connection for atleast a month...and theres no way I will be without black ops xbox live...So if anyone knows a fix for the update via tethering and why it wont work please post immediately!

P.S. I think its the update for the new xbox layout theme for kinect or some shit thats what i heard. Thanks!

Don't tether your xBox and get a real internet connection. There's your solution.

LOL how are you even able to play without lagging out? I'm running a LAN between my laptop and Xbox, and even lags from time to time. Can't imagine how bad yours might be.

yea, 3g lag and ping time is horrible, especially for fps games. Its people like you that make everyone else's experience horrible, getting kicked off and making everyone else lag.

Kind of funny how he can afford xblive membership but not a $20 a month net connection

I'm attending jobcorps and ill be here til the end of december..no wifi here or anyway of accessing internet without tethering...and actually I'm in a 4g service area so I rarely experience lag...when u live at jobcorps u have to stay in dorm...if you guys can tell me a way to get internet without getting in trouble for having someone like cox cable come install internet for me on government property then please share! Thanks for the help

you should not be installing the new xbl dashboard update via tethering on your phone. That will take forever to finish.

Besides, if you try to play online while tethering, you WILL timeout your connection. There's no way that people get lag while on cable and fios connections yet you wont on your cell phone

When I do lag only I will experience the lag and only other way others will experience lag is if I am chosen the host which is unlikely..oh and b4 this update I have played for many hours without experiencing very much lag on modern warfare 2.

Maybe you shouldn't have a XB at a jobcorps? They tend to get stolen with the crowd that hangs out there.
