PowerAmp vs default music player?

I am looking at PowerAmp and besides the awesome EQ, what else makes you think it is better than stock? I like the stock big buttons and text especially in the car, and like the stock notification bar controls. Just looking for a good reason to upgrade if there is one. If the stock EQ was easier to get to quickly maybe I wouldn't even consider anything else. What do you think?

You can control it from the lock screen and it automatically gets album art and allows you to edit tags. Stock player doesn't do any of the above.

Its also easier to created playlists in Poweramp, imo.

You CAN control the default from the lock screen. No album art or tag editor, but those are not huge to me. Any other plusses?

The landscape behavior and the EQ are almost enough to sell me, I don't even use the lock screen. I just think I'll miss the in-app controls, but probably not that big of a deal either. I'll try using it exclusively I guess until my trial expires and see if I can live with it/without it.

There is a half disc you can drag down from the lock screen /w default player. So yes, you can control the default player from the lock screen.

Frankly, I don't know if I'll buy it myself. Just was giving you what I knew it did.

I have PLAYER installed that does pretty much the same thing, with a better tag editor, actually as it scrolls whereas the PowerAmp one doesn't. But Player doesn't seem to have lockscreen controls. I'll have to see if it has that circle that Aero mentioned.

I have found that PowerAmp periodically seems to scan my sd card causing some issues, so that is minus for me.

Jury is still out for me regarding buying or not. I was actually happy witn WinAmp, so may default back to that when my trial ends.

music playerpro is definitely worth checking out too. It doesn't have an eq but the stock media player always gets a "not enough space in the music database" whenever i try to sorty by artists. I think the eq is overrated in a media player. I must say i do like the "music clarity" setting in the stock media player tho. i would probably use it if i didn't get the music database error. Anyone know how to fix it?

Sorry but no, ask anyone who knows a lot about music players and headphones and they will tell you that EQ can make a world of difference.

I listen to lots of audio lectures made with sometimes lots of room noise, and music recorded with simple stereo mics in a room, so was is pretty important, maybe the determining factor. The default player was is ok just a pain to get to to change settings. But a player without eq is really worthless to me.

Ok, I bought it, it is a nice player and I really like that it launches right from where I was when I plug in the headphones, that and the landscape eq view really won out, usability is great. One thing that bugged me with the default player is the text size, which when you have some long track names can be a big PITA since you can't tell tracks apart easily. So this also helps with that, plus being able to edit tags natively is proving to be very handy.
