Backup/Sync DCIM folder to Cloud

Is there any easy (preferably free) way that I can backup/sync my DCIM (pictures) to the "cloud"?

I probably don't need something that does it automatically. I think doing it on-demand when I want to would be fine.

I almost never need to connect my phone to the PC anymore, so I'd really love a way to safely backup the pictures without having to do so.

Dropbox is good and free. Shared folder with all your internet capable devices.

My Backup Pro is awesome. Backs up everything at 4AM onto accessible web server, my home server, or SD card. It's probably a paid app though.

Dropbox will only allow one file at a time, so that won't work.

Where in MyBackup Pro can I backup a particular folder or just my pictures/videos? I don't see that anywhere.

Also, I don't see how to backup to my own ftp site or webserver?

Does it even backup data off the SD card (like my dcim folder)? It doesn't look like it even does that at all.

Any other options anyone?

Can you please provide more info on either of your suggestion. I can't find a way to get either to do what I asked in my OP.

Anyone with any other ideas either?

I also tried Sprite backup and that does offer a way to do scheduled backups of photos to dropbox, but it creates the large file on my sd card, but it doesn't upload it to dropbox ever. I then tested and just backed up the small call log and it did upload that so I don't know.

I think I've got my answer.

5GB free space is enough for photos/videos.

Seems like it's a pretty new product that needs to have features added, but I can select a folder on my phone and set it to sync.

Currently, I set my dcim file to sync. It's got about 500MB in there, so it's oing to take a while the first time.

I don't think there's automatic sync at this time, but I don't really need that. I can manually sync once a week or something, that's all I'm looking for. Actually, I wouldn't even want it to automatically sync when I take new pictures. Ideally, I'd like an option for a scheduled sync, like Mon, Wed and Fri at 3am or something like that.

And the fact that it's a sync is much better than if it was just a backup. It'll only upload new/changed photos and will remove deleted ones off the website.

Need to play with this more, but this might be perfect.

Did that work for you? i'm looking for the same thing. Something that'll sync my pics when i get near WiFi to an online gallery

I wonder if there's a way to set that up with Tasker.

I haven't really tried a full upload, but I think there's a problem that might be a deal breaker.

Seems like it's not a true 2-way sync. If I sync a folder, then delete one file in that folder off my android device and then re-sync, it downloads the file from the cloud instead of deleting it off the cloud.

That's no good for picture syncing. If I ever delete pictures from my phone, they'll just get re-downloaded.

I posted a question in their support forum.

You might be able to set up an auto-upload in tasker, but I bet syncing is a lot harder.

Worst case, if this is a deal breaker, I could still use this program to do a full upload weekly or something like that. I'd have to just delete the backup off the cloud and then "sync" the device and then only pictures currently on the device will go to the cloud and the cloud won't have anything to send me back.

Hopefully, there is a fix for this not true syncing though.

Got their reply and it isn't very promising.

For something that's billed as a syncing service, it's not doing a very good job of syncing.

If guess to do a true sync it'd have to be actually monitoring that folder constantly and maybe that would use excessive battery.

Regarding the offline sync feature in the Android app, to keep your data safe, "deletes" will not be synced in either direction. So if you delete a file from the SD card, it will not be deleted from your SugarSync account or from your computers. Similarly, deleting a file on your computer will not delete the same file from your SD card. However, if you delete from your phone and not from your SugarSync account, it will re-sync that file back to your phone. We plan to change this behavior eventually but would like to spend some time to understand how people use this feature before we finalize how to handle deleted files.
As a workaround for the time being, to delete a file from your SD card and your SugarSync account, you must delete it first in your SugarSync account and then on your SD card. I know this isn't exactly what you are looking for, but I hope this helps.
