Accessories Seidio released the Epic 1600 mAh battery....

xTm,

Thanks... the link is now fixed (a "\" snuk in at the end....)

Yea, I could see this as a replacement battery - but not as an extended battery.

However thick a 3200mAh battery ends up being, i'll take it!!!

Thanks,

Matt!

Is it really worth adding additional thickness to an already thick phone and paying upwards of $50 for a 3200mah battery when you can just purchase additional 1500 batteries from ebay for less than $5/each???

yes,

I think it's worth it not to have to carry two batteries - or charge two batteries. With my job, I can't guarantee where i'll be and if ill have access to my second battery.... Otherwise, two batteries would work...

I guess it just depends on circumstances. The cost of the battery is a small consideration, IMO, but increasing the size of the phone is seriously out of the question. I have 2 extra batteries and a stand alone battery charger. That system works for me.

NC,

Did you get your standalone charger on eBay as well? Does it charge the phone and the spare battery at the same time? Or is it the one that Sprint released in the stores?

Also, could you provide links to your batteries on eBay.... ? Are you getting similar performance to the stock battery?

Thanks,

Matt!

I got the charger and the batteries all together on ebay for $8.99 (shipping included) from a seller in Hong Kong. It took about 13 days for them to arrive. The batteries seem pretty close to the same as the stock battery and the charger will charge your battery and your phone at the same time but you have to use your stock USB cable to plug into the charger. I usually just charge the battery separate from the phone. I've noticed that it sometimes takes up to EIGHT hours to charge the batteries using the standalone charger but I usually just charge overnite, so no problemo!

Already thick? You are talking about the Samsung Epic for Sprint right? lol It's not the thinnest phone on the market but comparatively speaking it's pretty freaking thin. Why are people so hung up on the thickness of the phone, it doesn't even hardly matter anymore. lol

Thick compared to the Evo, Iphone and other comparable Androids

Thick compared to the Evo, Iphone and other comparable Androids

Samsung Epic Dimensions: 4.91" x 2.54" x 0.56"
iPhone4 Dimensions: 4.5" x 2.31" x 0.37"
HTC Evo Dimensions: 4.8" x 2.6" x 0.5"

You're right the Epic is nearly twice as thick as the iPhone4! And the Evo is even 06 inches thinner than the Epic! I honestly don't know how you guys walk around with such a gigantic phone in your pockets. Honestly, you really should get a thinner phone. This realization is making me question upgrading to the brick... err, I mean Epic.

Add an extended battery and forget the brick, you're talkin' a whole damn house! :D

i purchased the ebay batteries and am not completely dissatisfied with them but after a while its quite noticeable that these batteries just arent as high quality as the samsung battery and they die much faster over time i guess they just lose strength trying to power such a power hungry phne they are good in case u really need to use your phone but i only carry them as extras and would hate to lose my samsung battery

I've only had mine about a month. So far, so good. My seller had instructions regarding the memory of my batteries and I'm hoping that by following the instructions the batteries' performance will be better.

I was instructed that the batteries were approx. 60% charged upon receipt. I was to use the battery, without fulling charging, until completely discharged then recharge completely and discharge completely for 3 cycles.

Agreed. I have six spare batteries from three Ebay sellers. Every single one tests between 1200 and 1250 mah compared with 1500 stock (testing at 1550).

Still at $5 they are for me a better buy than sedio or actual certain oem, but they are not a 1500 mah

I did the same with
eBay My World - city_out

The batteries work good get maybe a half hour less than oem battery. the car charges worked great but couldn't get the wall chargers to work without making my screen go crazy and had the same problem plugging into the usb on the stand alone battery charger. Funny thing is that my wifes worked ok only difference is she uses touchwiz and i have launcherpro plus on my phone. The leather case was cheap, tight, and useless in my opinion. I have one of the Stand alone battery chargers plugged into a small inverter in my rig so I can just change batteries and put the other battery on charge in the truck.

I agree with forddna in that I'd really like to know if this 1600 is noticeably better than the stock battery.

Has anyone tried it yet? To me, even a 15% increase would be worth it. I always buy extra batteries for those heavy usage days on the road when I forget to plug in, but the less I have to open up the cover to switch out batteries, the better.
