My youngest son got a hold of my phone recently and needless to say it was damaged badly. I have my insurance through Best Buy, so they had to attempt to repair and if a repair cannot be acheived, they give me a brand new phone. Yesterday I just got updated by Best Buy informing me that they're going to give me a brand new phone. I'm assuming it's going to have the newest updated 3.30 build with the new hboot loader. Can this be rooted using the unrevoked 3.21 method??? Please advise because I'm really bummed out to lose root. Thanks in advance!

I have an EVO by the way

I wouldn't necessarily assume you'll get a latest version 3.30 build, but the odds are probable that you may. I got a V4 phone 11/1 from Spring, but it had 3.29 on it, so not all V4 phones have that build as well.

Unrevoked 3.21 can't root 3.30, but there is a way to root it specified at xda I believe.

At this point no. However there is a guide over at xda in the development section on how to obtain root manually. I would hold off though just because there are alot of users who have been unable to flash any rom. I think the problem has to do with the new hboot. Just cross your fingers your new one comes with s/w version 3.29!
Thanks....I pick up my new EVO on Monday, so I definitely will be crossing my fingers and hope I get 3.29.....I know the people at unrevoked will eventually figure out a one click root solution, I hope it's sooner than later.

Exactly! I couldn't imagine it being too much longer till unrevoked finds a solution! Let us know though what version you do get... it'll be interesting to find out if they are still sending out 3.29
