Where can I find that app (if it's an app), and how do I install it? I would really love to use one of those :D

I've never used Quadrant Advanced and haven't looked into the extra features, but Quadrant Standard does the basic benchmarking that you've seen here. Search Quadrant in market or:

chart

Also, if I wanted to flash a new kernal (when more updated ones come out later on) how do I flash it to my Motorola Droid 1. I don't remember, I rooted my phone a long time ago. I saw a link that showed a bunch of download links to new kernals but don't know how to flash them.

You can do many/most of them through ROM Manager and just do it through that app. Or, download to root of phone and install just as you would a ROM. No need to wipe data or cache (at least I never have for a kernel).

As usual...make sure you have a backup because an occasional bootloop might be inevitable. I usually keep 3-4 kernels on my SD in addition to a nandroid...just in case.

EDIT: QR not working for me for some reason...just search in market.

one thing that i wish was in any of the roms ive tried recently is the updated deskclock.apk that allows the "set alarm" voice command. i always end up having to delete it from the system and reinstall it (with i file that i got more than 2 months ago). not a big thing at all ... but its the little things in roms that have been bugging me. especially on such a well polished one such as this one. been smooth sailing since my install over the weekend. love the work ... clean and simple.

What does the voice command do? Is it from cyan?

Dew: I think in a post for one of your older versions of this ROM you posted the command code to put into the phone to set the automatic brightness back to what is was in pre 2.2. Could you tell me what that was or if there is another way to go about changing it? Thanks!

There are a few ways. If you're using windows:

download and install the androids sdk

go the the tools directory (in the sdk folder) in a command prompt

adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk

leave the command prompt window open, we will go back to it later

copy and paste the file (framework-res.apk) to your desktop

Download this file: http://www.xeudoxus.com/android/xUltimate-ABP.zip

Extract the folder to your desktop

place the framework-res.apk file into the newly extracted folder

run the program, either xxx86 or xxx64 depending on whether your OS is 32 or 64 bit. chances are it's 32 bit.

select which ever option you prefer. right now it's set to 5

let the program work it's magic.

cut and paste the modified framework-res.apk file back into the tools directory

reboot your phone into recovery

assuming you are using clockwork mod, go to the partitions menu and select mount /system

go back to the command prompt window

type in the following command:

adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk

reboot your phone.

You should be up and running.

Let me know & good luck,
dan

Thanks, just before I do this (and make a back up of course) will I need to do any wiping of the data and/or cache or is this something I can just apply while leaving the phone in the state it's in?

There are a few ways. If you're using windows:

download and install the androids sdk

Is that an app for the phone? I checked the market and couldn't find it.

run the program, either xxx86 or xxx64 depending on whether your OS is 32 or 64 bit. chances are it's 32 bit.

I have a 32 bit system so I run the x64 version right?

select which ever option you prefer. right now it's set to 5

When you say right now it's set to 5 you mean that's what the phone is currently/originally set to for automatic brightness (which is too low for me) correct? So if I want the old setting I would just go to a higher number? You don't happen to know what the value was for 2.1 do you?

go the the tools directory (in the sdk folder) in a command prompt

adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk

Is adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk the directory to type in to get to the tools directory? If not could you tell me the command line? I'm still rather new at using command prompt.

Thanks for getting back to me so quick, sorry for all the questions, I just want to get it done right the first time since using the command prompt is a pain if I type in one thing wrong.

Also on a side note: Do you plan on integrating yourself with ROM Manager so we can receive OTA updates? Cause that would be awesome!

Not sure.

As for your questions regarding the brightness, download the android sdk here:
Android SDK | Android Developers

32bit = x86

As for the brightness, my ROM is set at 5. i believe stock level 2.1/2.2 is 16

all the "adb push/pull" commands are entered in the command prompt

start --> run
cmd

if you need more help let me know / PM me

So I just wanted to add my .02 cents. This is my first ever rom and it is sweet. After the last OTA update, my phone was way too slow and jibberish. Finally decided to make the move. This rom installed perfect with no issues. The only issue I had was my phone kept booting to the stock recovery but that was due to the one click root I used. This is the perfect rom for me because I just want sleek speed and dont need too much extra crap.

The only issue I am having right now is I cannot upload pictures to my Picasa this morning. Anyone else have that problem?

Quad Scores.

Just after root - stock = 800 something.
First pic you see was just after loading Charity Rom - No Speed Tweaks
Second pic is after SetCPU - 1100

Good Stuff!

Okay, DEW & others -- how SAFE is it to keep SetCPU on 1100 in interactive mode on the Charity ROM over time? I've tried it for short periods -- and had ZERO issues doing so, I might add -- but always down-throttled to 800 or 900 for fear of "burning out" my phone too early. Are there long-term ramifications to running one's Droid processor at essentially TWICE its clocked speed out of the box? Enlighten me...

(BTW, v10.2, as always, freakin' ROCKS - my all-time fave Android ROM!!) :D

I've looked and looked and searched, are there any other themes out for this rom? I just rooted the other day and installed this rom, I love it but I would like a few more options in the theme dept

I am probably not going to do other themes besides the one that comes packed with the ROM that i put together (thanks adamz & HTC). However, with the next release i may also release a stock version as well. you would be able to theme from that ROM with greater ease that my current ROM.

Not really a theme, but THIS POST and metamorph (free app) will allow you to change a few things.

I really want to change the status bar back to black...but am having problems finding out how.

It is possible that some other themes out there could work, I would guess, but would probably be hit or miss.

Don't forget to backup!

performance for me...I have plenty of opportunity to charge almost always.

By the way, currently running slayher 1200 @ interactive and got a 1720 quadrant score yesterday. Should've taken a screenshot!

Can you go 24hrs with that kernel?

I like the performance of slayher's kernels; very smooth. However battery life kills it for me.

I've never gone 24hrs with any kernel without charging. I don't think my phone has been below 60% in several months or more. I just always have a place to plug in (i.e. car/work/home).

I have only had this kernel for about 24 hours but will get a full charge and see how long I can go over the weekend and post back.

This is the first ROM I've tried and I'm absolutely loving it. Very nice and I haven't ran into any issues at all. And to your question earlier, I also have the opportunity to charge my phone often, so I don't mind performance > battery life. And I noticed how you changed the kernel for the update because the ultra low voltage was causing problems. But since I now have the 1100 low voltage kernel do you think it'd be safer to switch to ultra low voltage? Also, I haven't really read up on it, but when flashing a new kernel, with ClockwordMod, all you have to do is just install it from sd card and you don't have to rename it update.zip, right? And you don't need to wipe, right?

Unless the dev has an objection. I might try to mess around with the One Click Theme Injector over the weekend to see what happens.

This being said, I used to have pretty good computing skills before grad school and 2 kids, but that was about 6-7 years ago now and I may or may not be able to get it to work.

Any suggestions on a particular theme? Preferably something simple.

EDIT: I am guessing I should ask a particular theme developer permission also...is that the protocol nowadays...or do I just make sure to give props after-the-fact?
