Root Fascinate only says "Starting download" in market....help!

I'm rooted and just flashed Super Clean rom from Rom Manager. When I go to update current apps or download new ones, it says "Starting download..." and never stops! After looking this problem up and reading other people's posts who have had similar problems, I've tried clearing all cache and data related to any Google-based app. I've done multiple nandroid backups over the past few weeks and have tried restoring back to them. I've tried factory data reset both from Settings-->Privacy and also from recovery mode in CWM. I'm out of ideas. Someone help!

Do you still have Talk {google}? If so tell me if it works or if it immediately closes/does not even open at all. I had this same problem too. My GTalk didnt open only solution for me was a full bore odin fresh restore

Whoa no it doesn't work. I reeeeeally don't want to do an odin restore....
:( I know my way around the SF as Im sure you do too. I dont know what I/you/we did but the no talk thing is a sign that Market wont work for you for DL's. Like me Im sure you can search but DL are always unsuccessful.
Last night after trying ever suggestion from here, xda and straight up google I bite the bullet and odin'd. Honestly, if you dont have voodoo on your SF the start to finish process could take you as little as 15 minutes especially if like me you already have all the necessary files DL'd.
Its kinda a pain to get back to factory fresh but Market is too critical to just live without for me

i had the same issues... happened to me 3 times in the past week. ALL 3 times I had to go back with odin restores.. Funny thing is I can't really find what I did that made the market break.. first time I was using the Super Clean ROM.. so I opted for Zinc next, then it was related to themes afterwards.. I finally got mine the way I want it and everything works now..

with that said I'm a master at restoring my phone now.. lol, the last time it happened I actually went back to stock when I woke up and had my phone up and running to my likings by time I made it to work. =)

Did an odin restore with the system .tar.md5 files from XDA. Now all I get is force close windows popping up like crazy. Argh! I have no idea what to do. I've tried restoring several more times now and nothing seems to be working. HELP!

1 did you have voodoo (im assuming no)

2 did you odin pit/system, kernel, and then clockwork recovery?

3 did you wipe data/cache in clockwork and regular recovery

4 did you factory data reset in settings?

5 did you run fix_permissions from a terminal or in clockwork recovery?

I did every single one of those things. I found a link:

How to Escape the Force Close Loop of Hell - Android Forums

I did everything this guy suggested. This got me out of the force close loop of death, but now when I try to download apps, it says I don't have enough memory. Under task manager, where it shows SD card usage, data usage, and program usage, the program usage line says 0.00 kb/0.00 kb. It looks like it didn't partition the internal memory correctly. I'm thinking about just getting it swapped out now....this is crazy.

you havent completely removed voodoo if you have 0.00 storage

[How to] Completely Remove Voodoo Lagfix - xda-developers

that is the only reason for no storage

you have to do it in recovery through adb shell and su

virtually all us of have been through 0.00 storage and fc death. its all fixable

in fact as long as you dont have an awful fascinate that had a bad radio there is nothing that will cause you to need it to be exchanged short of a mental failure where someone flashes different sgs firmware in odin.

id hazard a guess that 90% of "bricked" android devices that people return or try to return are completely recoverable. this is why motorola locks the bootloader and htc has nand lock.

others may feel different on the matter but i think every attempt to fix the device should be made first :)

Got it fixed with adb and the uninstaller.....thanks so much you guys. I really appreciate it!

no problem, glad you are all squared away and hey you got the sdk installed now :). having adb is like a huge safety net and also very useful down the road with the rest of the goodies in the sdk.

Good for you. There is a certain pride that comes from bork recovery

^totally agree. i think until you've had a major bork/soft-brick you're just treading water, because a lot of the knowledge that you gain from your phone truly comes from having to do everything possible to recover it. and once you do, you dont get nervous everytime you flash something :D

there is a zip file in that thread that says Voodoo_uninstaller. download that, put that in your sdcard , assuming you can get in to CWM, just install zip from sdcard, bam voodoo gone

yes, adrynalyne has the uninstaller on the thread, and yes it works *most* of the time. he will tell you flat out himself that its better to do it with adb, and he has taken it down from time to time because people were complaining it didnt work for them and should have to do it the manual way.

that being said if it worked for you great :) but imo why not just do it the manual way and be assured of success.

Absolutely true story:
For the record I dont text and drive and only talk on my BT. However, I do kernel flash and drive:p Wednesday, after a mild freeze up with one of HeX's kernels I had to battery pull right as Im walking out the door. So from my car I got into RM and CWM and flashed one of jt's I knew was stable. Admittedly, a month ago I didnt do any flashing unless I was home near my PC and its drivers, odin, adb the works. Now provided I know its stable I can do the above literally while driving. Of course I only hit buttons on my SF when I was stopped so I was being safe, sorta

HAHA! That's funny. I would be lying if I said I didn't do the same thing with the Fascinate and also with my old Moto Droid a year ago. It's just so intriguing sometimes that you can't wait till you get home!
