Accessories Video Review of the TETRAX XWAY and FIX Mount

Got my XWAY today, works great. I put a little spring clamp on the button/case for about half an hour and it's pretty solidly on there. I tried to peel an edge just to see and it wasn't budging with I was deforming the case pretty bad.

I ordered it on the 9th from ebay, within a half hour of my previous post, and got it today. Came out to about $38 shipped, great deal all around. Also, I'm not too worried about the phone being on the vent since I can close all the vents in my car. It's also pretty good about not blasting blaring heat in your face and will route that to the defrost or floor so I don't think it'll be an issue for me anyway.

Thanks for the review! Several months ago I bought my seidio active partially based off your review of that case. Couldn't be happier with that.

This looks like a great mount. I haven't done any research on them yet. I just got a new car and wanted to get a feel for what would work in that car, and vent mounting seems ideal for me. I'm still concerend about running the heat in the winter though. For some reason, all new cars seem to have abandoned the ability to close the center vents... though, now that I think about it, for the most part I don't run heat through the "face vents" (not sure what those are called). I either run floor, floor/defrost, or just defrost. Perhaps this is a moot point then?

Glad my reviews have helped. If you can turn off vent, no problem. However on my car I can not turn off the center vents. Am I worried? Not yet. But just in case I just received/bought the new version FIXWAY which is very cool. You put a square metal magnet (about 3/4" square and about 1mm thick) any where on your dash. Then this new version attaches to that square. And let me tell you this thin is powerfull, more so than the system that attaches the phone to the holder.

I am doing a review on this tonight, should be uploaded soon after. I am installing this in my GF's car.

Hey everyone, I have a new review of the Tetrax FIXWAY. New product!!

http://androidforums.com/incredible...product-review-tetrax-fixway.html#post1627122

Awesome :) Will check that out.

BTW, I think I can live with the whole heat issue, as long as the heat isn't coming out of face vents. I'll probably test it, just to see, but if I just avoid using those vents for heating, I can live with that. But now that the summer is done with, and I suppose you've been using your mount this whole time, what are your feelings about using this vent mount while the AC was running? I can't imagine that it was causing issues by making things too cold... was it a pain to have one of the vents blocked?

No trouble with the AC. When the humidity was high, it seemed my vents collected moisture, but the phone did not.

I am kinda concerned about the heat, however I typically warm my car up before I even get in it with my phone. Once I am in, i usually turn the heat to windshield and feet. So it should not be an issue.

Thinking about the xway and my concern is what if you don't use a case? I don't and my wife does, so I'd hate to stick this directly on my phone back and it eventually ruins the back and I have to get a new one....

Good point. However it does not ruin the back of the phone. Believe it or not it comes off easy. I just returned from Vegas and before I left I removed the disks on my Seidio Inno II and my HTC OEM Extend Battery Cover. They came off with ease. I just put new ones back on (ordered more). I use the HTC Extended mostly during the week and the disk is directly on the back of the phone (no case) and it works fine. On the weekends I have it on the back of the Seidio.

Downside, you phone does not lay flat on it's backside.

the button is now there is a magnetic pull on the button when I put something by it. Its minor but its there.

From their website.

First of all the magnet has no direct contact to the cell phone or GPS system, as the steel-clip is mounted to the device. 4 magnets with two opposite poles layout create a close magnetic field circuit so The steel-clip further more shields almost completely the magnetic field and the residual magnetism is lower than a common headphone. To all undertaken tests there was no sign of any interference with the performance of a cell phone, smart-phone or mobile GPS device, caused by the magnetic field of the TETRAX system. The same is true for the usage of MP3-players such as e.g. I-Pods.

Yeah that's why there's not just one big magnet on it. As gobluejb pointed out, it essentially travels through the button to the opposite pole magnet on the car mount. It's not like sticking a regular refrigerator magnet on a screwdriver and it magnetizes the screwdriver.

And FWIW, I usually set my phone on my wallet at night with the screen up and button on the wallet and have had zero issues with cards.

I know this thread is dusty but I just stumbled upon this tetrex! My question for anyone use has knowledge on this product (paging, gobluejd) with the xway fixed mount, could that be mounted on woodgrain? Would it ruin the woodgrain when removed? I was leaning towards the vent clip xway but think I'd rather have my Inc as far away from heat and ac as possible. I have an Acura MDX and the dashboard is covered in woodgrain so I don't have many options if this won't work on woodgrain. I'm really intrigued with this product as it seems like the best way to mount my Inc in my car but with the high price tag I want to find out as much as I can before I purchase it. Thanks in advance and also thanks for the great reviews of these tetrex products

I would think it would be okay. I assume it is not bare wood, and a clear coat is on it, if it was my car, I would try. Do not hold me responsible :p but you should be okay.

Yea it's clear coated so I'm hoping it'll be ok. AFA the actual disc, would it work on a cheap silicone case? I don't use a case but I don't think I'd want the disc on the battery case so I was thinking of buying a cheap case on Amazon. Is it easy to move the tetrax after applying to a surface (if I wanted to move it after a while or something)? I think I found a perfect spot to put it so I'm 99% sure I'll be ordering one. Do I get a discount if I say your name seeing how you've purchased so many from them haha

Email them first and ask, you never know, however my videos have more views than any other Tetrax....worth a try. Maybe ask for free shipping...:)

As far as the case, I have successfully adhered to the VZW Gel case (stiff). Not sure about those "skin" cases. I am currently using the CASE MATE Barely There and love it. This is the thinnest case I have and use so I do not have to put the disk on the naked back. Also try the incipio version at myincipio.com.

I was thinking of getting this and just leaving it in my car to use with the Tetrax Amazon.com: BLACK Soft Silicone Rubber Skin Cover Case for HTC Droid Incredible: Reviews, Prices & more

I just checked out the barely there case and it looks pretty awesome. I'm not a huge fan of cases, especially on sexy looking phones like the Inc, but If I do buy an "everyday" case it would be that one. I'm gona email tetrax and drop your forum name and see if they wana throw me a discount. I have to wait till next pay day to order it but I'll let you know what they say when I do.

I would advise against a soft case. The magnet is very strong, and with a soft skin case I can almost guarantee that when removing the phone from the holder the case will give and/or the disk will easily come off. The (2) cases I mentioned hardly add any thickness. I use solely for this reason.
