How To Totally Replace Messages App from HTC and Use Handcent SMS

After we use Handcent SMS, I like the threaded and direct reply featured, my question is, how to totally disable Messages App from HTC and use Handcent?

Built in SMS app -> Menu -> Settings -> Received messaged.

Uncheck the uppermost setting, the last settings should then grey out.

There is no received message? There`s Received Notification....

Open stock messaging from there hit menu>settings>received notification (uncheck this box).

You also may want to uncheck the failure notification too.

I have to say that after multiple tries with both Handcent and Chomp I have always reverted back to stock.

Handcent and Chomp are, in my limited experience, unstable battery hogs.

As to the original question, you cannot disable the stock SMS App completely. The system (and Handcent) needs it to work in order to function properly.
