Help Orange video

I'm just starting to use the video camera in my vibrant. Overall the video quality is excellent but sometimes when I'm doing indoor shooting, the video has an orange color overlay. Occasionally this will correct itself to a nice natural color part way through the video. I was wondering if this might be due to some automatic color adjustment that I'm not aware of. Has anyone else run into a similar issue?

The HD videos from the phone play very poorly (slow, jerky) on every media player I've tried on my Windows XP computer including VLC and WMP with updated codecs. Converting the .3gp files to .mpg or .wmv format produces a low quality video. Does anyone have any suggestions that might help?

I see an orange tint sometimes. If I take a picture of a white wall inside for example the center is sort of orange/red. This color artifact doesn't show up in outside shots, so I don't know what's causing it. Haven't tried video of a white wall inside.

My vids play smoothly on my PC. Try using VLC to play 3gp files.

I don't get the orange tint on outdoor shots either. It may be due to certain kinds of lighting although I have seen the tint disappear part way through the video.

VLC does play the 3gp files but the video runs slower with occasional pauses. I have used a program called Super to convert the files to WMV format but the quality is greatly reduced.

I just tried another inside HD video recording. The overall color balance is orange/red, but I'm sure that's due to white balance and incandescent light. I didn't see much of the orange center circle at all, which I do see prominently in still photos taken inside.

Regarding playback, both VLC and Quicktime play my 3gp vids like butter on my PC. No hesitation or stuttering or pauses at all. I'd guess you either have a PC horsepower issue or perhaps the particular codec you are using is inefficient. I've installed so many codecs over the years I'm not even sure which specific 3gp one I'm using, whether it's what comes with VLC or some other.

Converting vids is a whole other topic. There are lots of conversion programs available. I happen to use TEMPGEnc, which does an excellent job, but isn't free. All of the conversion utilities I've played with have quality settings that you can tweak. If you have to convert your 3gp files I'm sure it can be done with very high quality if you experiment some.

Not sure I'm helping much, but I can confirm that the Vibrant 3gp videos don't appear to have any inherent PC playback problems.
