[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

Well, I for one have a HORRIBLE itch that I think only the Incredible HD can scratch. Timing-wise, it ought to coincide with my ability to upgrade very nicely....;) but from now until then won't be much fun.

I don't see that there would be much noticeable difference at all between the Scorpion processor and the Tegra II. IF there's a difference, that can be made up with the Incredible HD's ability to root and overclock... which we can be pretty darn certain that will NOT be possible with T2.

I'm an Apple guy, okay guys... don't flame me here... I am completely sold on Android and am just as sick and tired as the rest of you.... seeing everyone clamor for iPhones for all the same reasons. I'm hoping like crazy that the Incredible HD will absolutely KILL the iPhone equivalent, and make them all wish they'd listened to me.

im really trying to hold on for this phone. i have an upgrade ready to go and i find myself treading in the x forums quite often......

Dude, I know it's tough when you've got the urge to upgrade... but you MUST PERSEVERE! Just before I found out about T2, I ALMOST upgraded early for the X after playing with one extensively in a Verizon store. But I'm glad I didn't.

What you're gonna have to do is flash another ROM, grab a cool app out of the Market, and play with those for as long as it takes for the Incredible HD to arrive. And when that wears off, flash yet another, and another! I'm trying to figure out which ROM to jump to right now for the same reason.

I'm itching as well but there just isn't anything available at the moment that "does it" for me.

The X has the screen size but just isn't appealing to me (blur...camera hump...yuck).

The Fascinate has a beautiful screen but is a little smaller than I'd like and I'm not crazy about the "plasticiness" of the device. Plus Bing...no thanks!

The Droid 2 and Droid 2 Global are too close to what I currently have and it would leave me feeling like I didn't get a full upgrade...more like an update.

The continuum is just weird IMO. A ticker...yeah, I don't think so.

The incredible is almost a year old and has a 3.7" display.

HTC gets screwed by not releasing the HD now. I would buy the phone today but in 2-3 months??? There should be several other new options available to us at that time. I will have to evaluate other options but I have decided that I will NOT upgrade to one of Verizon's current devices. Hell, I'd even buy the EVO right now if I didn't have to switch carriers to get it.

+1 here! Well stated, and you summed up exactly what my thoughts were on all those phones. However, I do think the Fascinate is a very aesthetically-pleasing phone... the plastic doesn't bother me, but you're right about the 4" screen. I'd rather have 4.3". :D

The incredible is only 7 months only basically, not really a year.

Yeah, but Droid 1 didn't have much longer than that. Released in 11/09 and discontinued in what... 7/10, 8/10 (someone help me out here)? 8 or 9 months at the longest. By the time Incredible HD gets here, the Incredible will have had close to the exact life-span as the Droid 1. Heck, they're already selling them cheap!

Good point but if you compare an incredible side by side with any verizon phones in the market, even the newest ones can't beat them on speed/snappiness. It's just a quick, smooth system. Droid 2 feels like a dumb phone in terms of speed next to one.

I really like my incredible and I don't know if I want to wait 3 to 5 months for the HD.

Note: I live in Montana and verizon is the only major carrier here.

If there isn't more concrete info on the Incredible 4G/HD by Black Friday sufficient to keep me motivated to continue this waiting game & there's a good deal on the EVO 4G, I may have to grab an EVO..

An EVO could always become my backup hacker phone or I could give it to a family member..when the Incredible HD materializes.

I was gifted an iPhone 3GS & played with the original Droid & EVO on their launch days but not until 2.2 came to the EVO did I fully feel Android is the future of smartphones, palmpcphones or whatever term you find most endearing.

I'll probably need a specsheet & release date for the Incredible 4G/HD to justify further delays..

I know the EVO 4G is not perfect (16 bit color display, subpar camcorder quality & battery life..) but it's my favorite Android form factor and the developer community is well established now.

The most annoying thing about Sprint is they are the only major carrier to charge an ETF even if they didn't subsidize the device so any Black Friday deal will have to be impressive:)

I had an Incredible and kind of miss it......

I traded my Inc for a Droid 2 and then traded for the Droid X.

I wanted to get a larger screen phone and thought it would subside my "desire" for the Inc HD. How wrong I was....I really want the HTC Inc HD now. The Inc was a fluid and snappy phone with a beautiful screen, and I like the larger screen of the X, but really looking forward to the form factor, ui, and speed of the Inc HD.

Yea... I was amazed at how slow D2 and X feel compared to the Incredible... it might just be the difference between Sense and Blur but now I'm wondering if it's the Snapdragron that makes the difference after seeing how close nexus one and the Inc perform.

yeah I`m in the same boat ever since I went to the X from the Inc. I have always regretted it  hopefully the INC HD will be out the first part of the 2011:thinking:

Two totally different kinds of 4g. LTE is 700mhz which has better building penetration than wi-max does. From what i've read, LTE is expected to be slightly less battery intensive than 3g CDMA is!

That's good news!

I live in a LTE area, but again don't really care about 4g as I use wifi . Also after checking out my friends EVO (which I loved) I noticed that the 4g was one of the HUGE battery drainers. Went to a Nuggets game with him I had my Incredible unpluged for about 10hrs and was at 65% he had his unplugged for 6hrs and was at 50% by the end of the nuggets game I was at 59% his was at 7% . Mainly because it seemed that he was jumping from 4g to 3g most the time I was looking at it. While mine had a solid full bars of 3g

So that's a definet Knock on 4g. Also locked bootloader is not cool but it looks like that might be the way these phones are going

Yea I know you are right. I just flashed ss 4.9 and am likng it so far. Xcellent battery life. There I go again lol.
I am eligable for yearly upgrades and I. Keep thinking what if this phone doesn't come out untill june(latest possible date). That's a long time from now and will be close to time for me to upgrade again.

On a second note we should start a support thread for those trying to hold off on upgrading :)

I too think that HTC/VZW is dropping the ball by not releasing this phone now. I'm currently using an Evo, with a free out of my contract and I'm waiting to jump on this phone, on the VZW network, which is a lot better than the Sprint network.

This would be a hot phone to release for the holidays, especially if Verizon could keep them in stock to get them to people, unlike the shortages that Sprint had for the longest time.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not dumping on the Incredible by any means. But I bought a Droid back in Nov of 2009 and it was king of the Android hill for about 4 months (for Verizon anyway). Thankfully, the root community was there to keep the D1 competitive.

Buying the DINC now would be the equivalent of buying a D1 in May. I still think the incredible may be the best all-around phone for Verizon right now but if I was going to get on that bus...it would have been back in the spring.

so far i am confident with most of the specs, in that they will be great and make us all happy. My main concern is whether the screen is going to be AMOLED or LCD. I'm not trying to downgrade from my Incredible's beautiful screen to the screen of the evo. It just doesn't look as good to me.

It would be a dream come true if it was SAMOLED but honestly i can't see that happening since Samsung seems to be holding that exclusive to their own branded phones (which makes good sense), but i would settle for AMOLED. I dont think i would continue to be interested in this phone if the screen was that of the EVO

I'd be quite happy if the Incredible 4G/HD has a better screen & camcorder than the EVO (i.e. 24 bit color, HD specs-quality?) & while I of course want a 2010 release asap, CES 2011 should at latest bring official news for a Q1 release:

not to add more speculation as far as release date, but I found this interesting HTC Droid Merge Announcement coming November 18th? - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum
look at the top picture in the post, "re-launching of the HTC Droid Incredible" now seeing as how the originial DInc is getting phased out, what do they mean by this?

Not sure about this since they have done "relaunch of incredible" in other cities
