I just got my DROID!!! Some of you may know that I should have gotten it Saturday, but I went to an authorized dealer, just to show my brother, and asked if I could get it a little early and I was expecting a no. The guy calls up Verizon and a few minutes later I am holding my Droid. I just got home and I got the push to upgrade it so it is doing that while I am on here...I am just happy they let me upgrade almost a week early. Shows that Verizon is nice sometimes.

I get mine on friday. I absolutely can't wait! I actually have a list of about 30-40 apps that I plan on downloading/trying out as well as a number of other todos that I've compilated since finding this board.
That's what I did and when I got the phone I just got the barcode scanner and downloaded the apps. If you can't wait for it like I couldn't I suggest going into the store and seeing if you can get it early.

Congrats on finally getting one! The first 24 hours the droid will pair with your neural system and by 48 hours you and the Droid will be ONE

Essential apps:
Handcent (txt app)
Home++
Genisis emulator (Genisoid I think?)
GBA emulator (Gameboid I think?)
ebuddy (best IM app out there)

I don't want to bog down ur App wishlist so I'll leave it to that :D

I got all the ones I was going for so feel free to add more. I might get home++ but I have one home screen completely empty so I don't see the point yet

I'd suggest Meebo IM over eBuddy. It's light-years ahead in terms of the "not hideous" feature. Especially now that they've fixed the connection issues.

Also look into Google Voice and an account with them for free texting, Meridian music player, Pandora internet radio, PdaNet, and AK Notepad.
Yea, I use google voice for texting anyone not on verizon. I will get rid of my current $10 txting plan when GV doesn't refresh only every 5 minutes.
