Hello all,

I've had my captivate for about 1 month now and I'm having serious issues with my email "self" deleting. Here is the scenario:

I open my email, it loads up an email message(or more than one). I read or not read them, then I close it. I return in an hour or two, open email, I see the emails in the folder, but while it is syncing and looking for more emails, it begins to delete the emails in the folder, one by one. I haven't really noticed how long it takes for it to do this, cause I've tried to re-open email after receiving new ones and noticed that they don't delete. Only when they are at least an 1/2 hour old on the phone. Don't get it! I've looked at all the settings and don't see any auto delete settings. I've also deleted the email account and added it again a couple of times.

Let me know if anyone can shed some light.

Thanks

Oh yeah,

I forgot to add what version of rom I have:

Firmware version: 2.1-update 1

Baseband version: I897UCJF6

Kernel version: 2.6.29 Jetaek.lee@sep-11#2

Build Number: ECLAIR

Figured that this would help. Not the Android expert!

Next problem would be that when I look to see if there are any updates available, I see one and download it(OTA). When it goes to install, it gets to 50% and then fails every time. Any thoughts?

Thanks again.

Not that it matters now as you got the update, but it sitting at 50% is "normal". If you had left it, it would have finished. Just an FYI. :)

You shouldn't need to have used Clockwork to update to JH7. If the OTA update wasn't working, you should try the Kies Mini method.

Once you start hacking in firmwares with Clockwork or Odin, it's a one-way street that can often ensure that you have to always use those methods going forward and odd things might not work the same ever again. These methods do not return you perfectly to a "stock" phone like someone who did their stuff the official way.

Another obvious thing to try is a better email app. K-9 solves all sorts of problems.
