So due to an employment change I had to turn in my Moment to my former employer. I now have a Samsung Captivate (AT&T). Like going from a Yugo to a Ferrari. Makes me wonder how many of the Moment's problems were due to Sprint rather than Samsung. At least in Central FL the AT&T 3G network seems much more robust than Sprint. YMMV.

I'm in central FLa too. I love the moment, I just wish it wasn't so slow or behind graphically. Im stuck with it for two years. The least sprint can do it is keep the updates (the good updates) coming so we moment holders can keep up.

I wish you the best of luck trying to deal with the moment for two years. Just sitting here with it beside my Evo, there's no way I could deal with it. I barely had my moment for 6 months before trashing it for a Hero. The hero ran better, didn't lag as much, and was head over heels better than this hunk of junk. Hell, it still is. If you can, Dorky, I'd say try to get a hero or something else. The transform isn't bad.

Yeah the Moment is a POS.

Thats for sure ! Called Sprint today and Im shy about a month on a upgrade but they will do it for me. Wednesday Im going to BB nd get the EVO for the $199. This Moment has been a nightmare from day 1. At the time I got it I just thought it was so high tech thats why battery life was short. Makes me sick to see my buddy in work on his EVO for 3 hours with a lot of battery left and me recharging my phone after 25 minutes to 40 minutes of use. Waste of time rooting, disabling apps, all just to try and squeeze an extra 5 minutes of battery life out of a junk phone.

I've used a few custom roms that had great battery life and a few that were terrible. ti-x 1.3 is on the worse side but performance is so good that I've been dealing with it. The benefits of dj07 or even di06 aren't worth the ability to run custom roms to me. I rolled back from di06 to de03 with no problems and stuck with my favorite custom rom.

Regardless... I feel this whole sub forum is basically a big warning to any potential phone shoppers to stay far away from this one.

Even with a totally rooted, bloat free, silky smooth Moment, it's still lacking majorly in all departments.

Yes, I can run live wallpapers after rooting, but they're not as smooth as on the Hero (when it's rooted, of course)

Poke poke poke.
The lack of multi-touch on ANY build makes this phone REALLY glare out compared to any of the other phones available on Sprint running any build of Android. I mean, ****, the Hero had 2 point multi-touch rolling in on 1.5!! Here we are, three builds into 2.1, and this phone is long past dead on it's life span, still single-fingering it.

LAAAAAG.
Even with EVERYTHING bloat and Sprint removed, no service, and next to nothing installed (save emulators), typing is still lagging behind what you're actually typing, and the phone is just SLOW as fudge that's just out of the fridge.

I'm feeling blue, oh so blue.
The screen has a blue hue to it. It is ever so painfully obvious in everything I do with this thing. On the bright side, when I'm running a genesis emulator playing Sonic, Sonic stands out vibrantly against everything else! :p

I'm locked out! Let me in!
Every time you shut off WiFi, the damn phone STILL locks out, even with the latest build!! No matter what ROM I flash, no matter what kernel, it always happens. I still vibrantly remember the actual CDMA radio issues it had as well. Let's stream some music!! Let's check my e-mail!! Now, while streaming, let's visit a web site!!-- damn. Time to yank the battery and sit through a 5 minute boot cycle.

I still chuckle when I re-read some of the old threads here with people either going with this phone or the OG Droid back when it got released. Boy, I'll tell you what. One side got TOTALLY screwed with their choice, and I don't even think I have to say which.

Very true !

With this sub forum having so many posts about rooting, battery life, quirks, etc. This tells you all you need to know about the moment. Stay away from it.

Havent been posting here cine I got the EVO. Man this EVI is night and day between the Moment ! No bugs, no crazy proximity sensor, no lag, big screen, and most important.... Had the phone on standby for 16 hours and in use about an hour and a half, and still had 65% battery life !

I will now be in the EVO forums :)

(and not complaining)

I wanted the evo but i absolutly hated my blackberry and couldnt wait for my name to come up on the waiting lists. a month later 4 radio shacks called me. Asking if I needed my evo still. Now I wish I had waited it out, luckily my upgrade comes once a year. (9 months to go whoo hoo!)
