Seems like all of a sudden my Moment never sleeps. I can press the red end call button to put it to sleep, but when I turn it back on after a few minutes or even an hour or so later, when I check spare parts it says under battery history 100% running. The screen is not on and shows a small % and since this started the battery life has gotten horrible again. The only thing I see that is running when I look at partial partial wake usage is android system and it is showing the full bar in blue. Does anyone have any idea what can be causing this problem. When I had advanced task manager installed it showed many things running in the background like music, system update, messages ect ect ect and these programs were never opened by me. I thought maybe this was the program that was running all the time because after I uninstalled it the phone started sleeping. But now it is back to staying awake 100% of the time. Any help would be appriciated.

If you feel like playing detective, you can figure out (to some degree) exactly what your phone is doing when the screen is off (or on for that matter.) Get your phone set up with the USB drivers and enable usb debugging. Install the android SDK. In the SDK directory, there's a directory called "tools" inside that is a batch file, "ddms.bat" this is the debug monitor for your phone. Below is a screenshot. You should see your phone listed in the left pane (it has to be connected with usb.) You may need to highlight it to get everything working. The bottom pane contains a real time list of what your phone is doing. For example, I found out that my phone was running unusually awake, and using ddms, found that much of the activity was coming from the taskpanel app (look in the "tag" field of the bottom pane.)

Wow Keith, that looks wonderfully useful. I'm going to have to start playing with that soon... once I figure out why my laptop is being such a jerk about seeing my phone when it's plugged in (I think it's bad USB drivers for Dell, it really seems to be random... it's a very moody laptop... but I need to investigate further). Thanks for posting this!

Ok I did this and all I saw was Bat. The phone did sleep today however. I did see one thing under activity and it was weather. I do not even have weather set to anything on this phone. Is it best to set it to a zip or leave it unset. Also what am I really looking for in the tag column. Thx for this info, I can see how it can really help.
