Root Easy guide to update to Galaxo or GAOSP!

It won't work on PC with USB 1.X. Just use another PC which supports USB 2.0 and higher, then it will work for sure. ;)

EDIT: it doesn't matter if you use Win 7 or Win Vista or Win XP, just must have a USB 2.0 support enabled

I understand people not having USB 3.0 yet, but wasn't USB 2.0 released like 10 years ago?

Anyway, I'm glad Lelouch found out what the issue is, I hate it when I don't understand why it's not working. :D

did u forgot that i live in bosnia and herzegovina? maybe u never heard about that country. :D we are about 10 years late from the rest of the world :D

i'm kidding of course. :) the reason why i use this PC for about 10 years is because i am not fan of video games and ect and i dont need lot of ram memory and power gpu and pcu.

this PC is for emailing, some web browsing and for using ms office and thats it. that work this PC is doing perfectly for about ten years with no crashes and any damages and repairings. (except that i from time to time reinstalling OS) and thats it.

Maybe some other members have try to install drivers and make it work on USB 1.X. So I think this is a important information for the future members and currently members who have trouble by making the driver to work under USB.

EDIT: I also have a PC which almost 10 years and it works (gave it to my little sister :p), but has only USB 1.X support on the motherboard

You don't need to root your phone, Galaxo is already rooted. ;)

Glad I could help!

I finally managed to update to 1.6.3.4. But now I don't have Market app to load my favorite apps, what to do? Later I'll use titanium backup, when I have something to backup...
In recovery(6.4) I didn't see option to restore gapps, they are in market?
And more, edit sync groups doesn't go to contacting my google account...oh that must be because of missing gapps. Should I go to recovery again or?
Regards

Download the Google apps right there, put the .zip file on your phone, reboot it in recovery mode, select "Fix package permissions" and then select "Apply any zip" and select the Gapps you just downloaded.

There you go. ;)

Hello,

First thanks for the guide, i successfully updated to galaxo using it and it is working flawlessly.

But now i need help. I need to flash the stock samsung firmware (JC6 or any other) to get my phone unlocked, and i'm not 100% sure how to do it. Could someone give me some general directions?

Edit: I forgot to mention that i can't do a nandroid restore of my original firmware. I thought i would never come back to it.

Thank you.

I have a problem with mobile data after flashing galaxo. Wifi works fine, but data roaming doesn't. And I can't access APNs to check if they're ok. Voice calling and messaging worked.
I restored 1.5 to test connections and everything was ok. Back to galaxo, mobile data missing. Is there some switch somewhere in wrong position?
I have DMA 1.3rc3 installed, but that seems not to be guilty. I tried another backup without DMA too. I'm very happy with galaxo, but I'd like to use my data package...

Hey guys...

I'm brand new to the forums and have had my Galaxy i7500l for a couple of months now and wanted to check in here before I did anything so not to mess up my phone beyond repair...firstly I'd like to ask a few questions since I seem to find several answers or none at all and out of the ones I do find am not sure which ones to trust.

Ok, so the phone is currently the 1,5 default firmware...what exactly do the other firmwares offer over the default?(firmwares? Is that the right term? A lexicon could be awesome)

Assuming that some of the firmwares are indeed better (and keeping in mind I am Canadian and have a i7500l) what tutorials (if any) would you suggest to guide me through the process...or programs or whatever if there are any?

I am sorry if these questions seem incredibly noobish but I have never been very good at this sort of thing and am rather leery about messing up my phone.

Sorry, I am not familiar with whatever "DMA 1.3rc3" is, do you mind explaining your situation some more? Also why can't you access APNs?

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Here is a small change log of the differences between the different versions of Android. As a i7500L user (just like me), your best bet would probably be to install Galaxo and you can find a tutorial for it on the first page of this thread.

Firmwares = Made by Samsung (they all have names like BMIK6, JC6, etc)
ROMs = Made by users: mostly Galaxo (Android 1.6) or GAOSP (Android 2.2, work in progress)

If you got any other questions or if you didn't really understand my answer, just ask. ;)

Thank you very much, DaSchmarotzer, I really wasn't sure if that tutorial was the best option since I usually end up playing catch up to everyone as far as anything technical goes. xD And thank you for pointing out the rom names for me...I always wondered what some were talking about when I saw such things. xD

But yes, what about this Galaxy Updater app I've heard about...is that a viable option?

Well, it is a viable option, but your phone has to be rooted (if you know a little bit about Linux, it means to have root access, also known as Superuser). By installing Galaxo using the tutorial in this thread, your phone becomes rooted and after that you can use the Galaxy Updater application. And the "hard" part of the tutorial is to root your phone, so you won't skip much by using his application.

There is, however, another way but I haven't seen any tutorial for it and I've never used it myself (it came out after I wrote this tutorial). It's called easyroot and you can probably find it or more information on the drakaz website (drakaz.com). Using this, your phone will be rooted and after that you could use the Galaxy Updater application to install the custom recovery and Galaxo ROM (or GAOSP). If you know what you're doing it's probably the best option, but the tutorial on this page isn't that long to follow either, and if you have any problem, well you can ask in this very thread and people will get back to you. In fact I believe most problems have been resolved already. ;)

YEs there is a solution, After lot of search I found Galaxy Drivers for Fastbooting. It has fastbooting drivers in it, so no wory about 15 secs any more, start it in fastboot mode, let start serarch for that driver, and then find it, It will install as SAMSUNG FAST BOOT DRIVER. I will upload the file and link in few

Hi,

You should try fixing the package permissions (it's an option in the recovery) beforehand and if it fails, try it again. It happened to me once and when I tried to apply the .zip again it worked (without rebooting or anything).

Oh, and your English seems to be fine. ;)
