Lock any screen?

Hey Guys,

Quick question, is there an app that will lock the screen (any screen) so that the controls (on screen and menu/back/etc buttons)?

I've looked and haven't found anything...If anyone is wondering why I want this, I have a 2 year old who I let watch sprint tv (Disney channel, etc) when we are driving, but he constantly hits buttons and then asks me to fix it.

Ultimately what I am looking for is an app that keeps the screen lit, locks the on screen controls, as well as the buttons (controls, power, volume, etc). Although there are currently programs that keep the screen lit, so I wouldn't necessarily need a all in one - though that would be nice.

Please let me know if you know of anything or if there's any developers out there I'd have to think that anyone with a kid would want and pay for an app like this...

I've seen it on app brain AND the market but for the life of me can't remember what it was called but there actually is something out there that does this or something similar

Not sure if Smart Lock keeps the screen lit during inactivity, but i use KeepScreen for that if it doesn't

Hey rysti06,
I'm the developer of Smart Lock 2.0 and it sounds like its the closest thing to what you want. I'd recommend using the PIN or Password lock screen types. That way the home button is disabled (I need to update the video). I can't disable the back button in another application for security reasons but you could lock it down to only being able to toggle between the Approved Launcher in Smart Lock and Sprint TV app.

Most video apps keep the screen on while playing video. If the Sprint TV doesn't do that by itself for some reason, then there are several apps that do that.

I haven't explicitly tested with KeepScreen (mentioned above). Let me know if you have problems.

I am looking for a program that does the exact same thing for my 2 year old.

I appreciate the responses, but after watching that video I don't think that's what i'm looking for.....That seems more to restrict you to a few differnet options...where as I want to restrict everything but lets say one key to exit the lock within an app. So forgive me if I'm not understanding the smart lock app, but from the video and what I read it doesn't seem to do what I want.

The only other way I can describe what I'm looking for would be imagine you have you're in the browser, reading something/looking at something...now image you could lock the screen, but still show the web page, but both the screen input and button input (less one button or combo buttons) were completely locked....you can see the web page, but cannot scroll/click/go back/go home/go menu/vol up/vol back ETC....

This is what i want, and again if this locker program allowed the back light to stay lit while active, that would be wonderful but not necessary since there are apps out there that do that.....any idea's or does smart locker do that and I completely don't get it?

I agree. A program that locks out all the buttons (Home, Menu, Back, Search) and the Screen as well.

Maybe pressing the power button would unlock ... or ... turn off then screen and then pressing it again brings back the usual slide down to unlock screen.

Completely agree for the same reason (but with a 3yr old).

What I am looking for essentially is something that would emulate the little lock button on the top of my ipod nano

I put on Little Mermaid, hand her the phone and she watches it, does not matter what she presses etc.

If anyone has any other suggestions, pls post em here.

Smart Lock is defiantly the closest thing you are going to get to that. Especially if you use a password or a PIN lock type. When you use one of those 2 types it will disable the Home button. I need to update the video.
Its technically impossible to disable scrolling or on-screen buttons on apps that I didn't write (don't have control over).
You mentioned the Browser specifically and I am writing an Approved Browser so that you would be able to do almost exactly what you described in the the Approved Browser, but it would not apply to all apps.

There is a 24 hour return policy on all apps in the Android Market so try Smart Lock out and return it if you don't like it.

If you have feature requests, I'll try to accommodated you as much as possible.
