Is there a plain vanilla 2.2 ROM for the Droid X?

If yes, does it support all the hardware?

Is it faster?

Where to get it and what install method is preferred/stable?

Take a look at the ROM thread here. A substantial collection of the ROMs. For a vanilla feel I would look at Fission or Rubix. Fission is currently on my phone and it rocks! very fast, no blur though. Which means some stuff won't work like HDMI this is common for many blurless roms though. ChevySSX allows you to pick and choose which aspects of blur you would like though.
Got take a look at that thread and sift through a few to find which one fills your cup of tea just right. Any blurless rom will be faster than stock since a lot is modified and made more efficient. Also, each rom has its own install instructions that NEED TO BE FOLLOWED. You should also familiarize yourself with the SBF method since one will eventually be inevitable and learning it now and having everything ready to go is better than trying to get help with it at 3 in the morning and then throwing your phone at the wall Also get familiar with the backing up and restoring of your data/roms. Take a look at this thread for that. and please don't hesitate to ask questions, that's what this community is here for!

It's all based off based off froyo. And the SBF is recommended to have a clean slate and nothing else from other ROMs. And there aren't any OTA updates for this rom

The sbf will also restore your phone if you brick it.
