my ally just got an update. wow this thing is FAST!!

Not sure. How do I find out? I just got this phone three days ago.

Most likely you are getting the first set of updates from Verizon. You should have received the first when it was activated. I think you just got the Andriod 2.1- update 1, version sent to your phone. Enjoy the wonders of the Ally.

I did talk to chat support for LG today and they told me that a 2.2 update should be coming soon, now that Verizon has the new LG Vortex or whatever is.

spoke to verizon rep today about the ally froyo update. She told me that it is coming soon. also that there is a new update for the ally before froyo. if you have baseband version VS740MVB.5210.1015 it will change to VS740MVC.5210.1015. Not sure exactly what is updated. But Never the less there you go.

I also got this update through OTA on Friday. Took some time to install and reboot to the phone. Not sure what changes it update made to the phone.

I really hope that those words on froyo update that some of you guys heard come true.

I've had a heck of a time with these broken protected apps. Since I have nandroid backups (i think i saved them ) from v8, could I go back to that? the main question is this:

If i go back to v8, are they still pushing vzb over the air? if they are, i'm not going to bother with saying do not update ever 30 freakin minutes. I will go back if they are no longer pushing.

(and i've tried saying update with my custom recovery, all it does it breaks the OS. so i have to go back).

For about 2 or 3 weeks the VZB ota wasnt available and low and behold this past weekend it came back. you could always go in and remove the otacerts file in /system/etc/security and rename both files with .old or .disabled or something like that. it will remove ota notifications. then all you have to do to restore them is remove the extra extension from the 2 files. otacerts.zip and cacerts.bks
