I asked why verizon has me still pending and they said they randomly do it to people..and i guess i was unlucky enough to get randomly checked. she said it should still ship out today though

Actually, I just upgraded my existing account to a Droid X for $49.99 (w/ another two-year contract). Free shipping, no tax. Hell of a deal. If you qualify for a 'new every two' upgrade, I'd say now is the time to buy.

Last night I was all set to pull the trigger on a $0.01 Droid X... until I got to the last screen and it said the estimated shipping date was Jan 4. That's a long time, long enough that it seems better to wait and see what else comes out, and there'll almost certainly be further price drops in brick and morter stores that offer in-person support.

That's what I'm doing. I dilly-dallied too long and by the time I was ready to order the phone went from being in stock to "shipping in 1 to 2 weeks", which at the final checkout screen translated to January 4, 2011 My experience with Amazon has been that they definitely take CYA to the extremes though, so I put in the order anyway hoping they'll deliver sooner rather than later. I've waited a few months for a deal like this, so it won't kill me to wait a while longer, and if it takes too long and another deal comes along like you said I can just cancel the order.

Also a bit off-topic, but after $100 gift card you can actually get these at Walmart and make $10 before tax! I'm more comfortable dealing with Amazon though, so I passed on the Walmart deal.

I asked if they could match 1 cent. She said the lowest they could do is 1 dollar. I said that was fine. The 99 cent difference isn't a deal breaker for me. New phone for a dollar right now in my hands. Sweet.

That's awesome! Didn't know they would pricematch online prices. Might have to try that sometime.

Amazon Wireless went from "shipping in 1 to 2 weeks" to being "in stock on November 26, 2010". Looking good! Man, can't wait for this thing to ship.

Amazon only had the $30 data plan listed online. But, when I called, they said that I could switch to the $15/150meg data plan without penalty. I also called Verizon and they confirmed that I could switch without penalty. So, that is what I plan on doing.

I was originally going to get the T-Mobile My Touch 4G, since the data plan there was only $10 for 250meg. But, since it was back ordered on Amazon, went with the Droid, since I figured I only use about 100meg a month, and slightly preferred the Droid X anyway.
