Root unrEVOked with Mac OS 10.4.11 possible??

Hello...

I'm getting some CONFLICTING information so I'm fresh-posting this simple question:

I was wondering if I can root my EVO using unrEVOked with my computer which is a 15" Aluminum Powerbook G4 with a PowerPC (NON-Intel) processor running OS 10.4.11??

Before I start something that I do NOT want to continue with, I just wanna see if my computer hardware and OS is up to the task....

Honestly, was the process easy?? I assume you backed up just in case but was it as simple as following the instructions, working with that .dmg file and then you're ROOTED?? Any tips/tricks you did?? How long did it take??

I'm gonna wind up plugging into my in-law's 2-week old machine and rooting with their Mac. Just wanted to know a bit more about your experience...thanks!

i think you need an Intel Mac...

Just download the mac version and give it a shot... If it loads then it will work, if it doesn't load then it will not work.

Honestly, it was beyond simple.... i downloaded unrEVOked, open it, and followed the directions...it did take 2 times though... for some reason, it didnt "take" the first time.. I started from the beginning, it took about 4 minutes.. start to finish..

I did NOT backup.. i guess i should have..

watch this vid.. only difference, i did NOT have to download the drivers.. so it was easier than the vid... my mac pro recognized the evo instantly..

I read a bit more. I think I need an "x86" (Intel) Mac with 10.5-ish...gonna try anyway. Worse comes to worse, I brick my phone!

out of curiosity, do you have the gingerbread 2.3.3 update installed on your phone? if so then you will have to wait for an exploit to be found.

if you still have froyo 2.2 then you can still root it. so what exactly what is the issue? do you get an error? can we get some more info on what is the problem you are facing?

Unrevoked only works with 10.6/Snow Leopard

  • Switched exploits for all platforms; hopefully more reliable than rageagainstthecage
  • Updated ClockworkMod, with plenty of new features:
    
    • 3.0.0.2 for EVO 4G, which has a new kernel (for better WiMAX safety), and supports WiMAX key backup
    • 2.5.1.2 for Incredible, which supports SLCD
  • No update for Wildfire yet; sorry.
  • Only Snow Leopard is supported in the OS X build.

Could you mac guys without snow leopard try it through a VM? Virtual box a linux distro or try the bootcamp or whatever it's called? I'd think those options would work for you guys, but I don't know for sure...

I wound up using a relative's laptop with 10.5 or 10.6. One click with unrEVOked...was simple, once I got the right computer
