Samsung Website says Captivate comes with Android OS 2.2

holy shit sueee them

over what? a typo? Every company in the world protects frivilous lawsuits about stuff it puts into print with the following (which, incidently, comes directly from Samsung's legal disclaimer):

You acknowledge that this site may include certain inaccuracies or typographical errors which may affect the quality of materials and third-party content. You acknowledge that the materials or any third-party content have not been independently verified or authenticated in whole or in part by Samsung, and agree that Samsung does not warrant the accuracy or timeliness of materials or the third-party content, and further agree that Samsung has no liability for any omissions in the materials and content, whether provided by Samsung or any third-party

Red text is my personal annotations on the convo
Kevin: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Visitor: Hi, I have a question about the Captivate, which I am planning on getting but do not yet own. Is that k?
Which is true, I don't own it yet and am planning to.
Kevin: Okay.
Kevin: Please go ahead with your query.
Visitor: The page for the Captivate says that it comes with Android 2.1, which is fine, but that it's upgradable to 2.2. Will I be prompted to upgrade whenever I first start the phone, or how will that work?
DUHHH BECAUSE I DONT USE FORUMS TO LOOK THIS SHIT UP MYSELF DUHHHH
Kevin: I understand that you want to know Android 2.2 version will get updated once turn on phone. Am I correct?
Kevin: I mean when you purchase the Captivate phone.
Visitor: Yeah, or if not, how the update can be obtained. Do I dl it form the downloads page?
Visitor: from*
Hooray for feigning ignorance.
Kevin: Thank you for confirming.
Kevin: I am glad to assist you.
Visitor: :D
Kevin: Captivate phone comes with Android 2.1 version.
Visitor: right
Kevin: I apologize, the Android 2.2 upgrade software is not yet released for users in U.S officially at this moment.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO
Visitor: ? Then when will it be out?
Kevin: We are unable to speculate when/if a software revision might be available due to the fact that this might lead to inaccurate information and confusion.
As if I hadn't read those EXACT words over 9000 times before? >.>

Kevin: Should this become available, it will be posted on our website in the Samsung Download Center.
Visitor: Could you hold on for a sec?
Kevin: As android2.2 is about to release that is the reason it has been posted in the samsung website with features.
Kevin: Sure.
Visitor: So it's going to come out soon though?
Kevin: Yes.
Visitor: I hear that it'll increase performance by 450%, so that's good,
Visitor: but you said "inaccurate information and confusion" before right?
Visitor: That it could be caused if anyone knew the actual release date?
Kevin: Actually, on the Samsung website it is mentioned as Captivate comes with Android 2.2.
Kevin: Now it is with Android 2.1 only.
WTF are you trying to say? That it comes with both 2.1 and 2.2?!
Kevin: That's the reason I mentioned as you might get confused.
I sure as hell am confused now, I'll give you that.
Kevin: As android2.2 is about to release that is the reason it has been posted in the samsung website with features.
Even though they already undid it so that isn't even right. He's wrong about something that was a mistake in the first place, TIME PARADOX
Kevin: Once the update has been released by the Carrier people you will receive a notification message to install it on your handset.
"Carrier people"? ROFL
Visitor: Oh. Actually, would you mind if I sent a link to a picture which I find interesting on the matter?
Visitor: http://s803.photobucket.com/albums/yy315/joeddelco/?action=view

What are you all trying to prove by busting a low level cs agents balls? And it's amusing how you mock his English when yours isn't that much better.

We get it, they give canned responses. Welcome to live support, they don't give any specific information and only vague answers. We have only known this for years...
