I have a choise between these two.

What I like about the Wildfire : It's HTC, It looks good, Nice interface
What I like about the Optimus One : Faster CPU, more RAM, better screen resolution

What I don't like about the HTC: 320 x 240 screen resolution
What I don't like about the Optimus One : Well it's an LG...

Does the Optimus One perform better than the Wildfire as the Optimus One generally has better specs than the Wildfire?
I'm really confused and don't have clue which one to get. Any help would be great! Oh and testing the devices beforehand is not an option for me..

Also Optimus has 2.2 Froyo already running while the other ones don't. Also it has larger batter than the Wildfire which means more power on the road. I played with my friend's Optimus and I think it is a very nice solid device which does everything my Evo does but it does not require 3 extra batteries to run the entire day at full power. Great screen nice and responsive and all the other bells and whistles you want. Eventually you will not be able to put Gingerbread on it but I would really think you don't need it.

HTC has the nice looking sense but I think at the end of the day I miss the fully updated version of Swype which actually works as it needs to. I take functionality over pretty looking OS + if you root the phone you can get as sense looking Rom so best of both worlds :)

I believe the most important criteria is to get the highest version of Android possible out of the box and the Optimus One is it.

Plus the Optimus One has the faster CPU by 100Mhz to top it off, and the more powerful battery, 1500mah vs. 1300mah on the Wildfire. Considering the complaints about battery life on Android phones, you need the bigger battery.

Then top it off with a higher resolution screen and what appears to be a lower price point, and a slightly modified Android UI, you get more checks for the Optimus One.

If you are to compare the Optimus One's electronic specs, this device is as powerful or more so, than the Droid Eris, HTC Hero, and the HTC Legend.

Thanx. But the Optimus One does not support Flash Lite as it's processor argitecture does not comply with Adobe's minimum spec. But the Wildfire does. Now my question is, even though the Wildfire has 100mhz less on the clock than the Optimus, doesn't the Wildfire still out perform the Optimus One? And I also would like to know, how does the responsiveness of the Optimus One's touch screen compare with that of the iPhone 3G as I am very impress with the iPhone's responsiveness.

Sorry about all the questions, but I'm going to be stuck with this phone for the next two years andi don't want any regrets.

Man I despair at comments like this, your so tied up in the minutiae of all the minor details that will mean nothing to you in 6 months.
These are all budget phones, not high end. Just accept them for what they are.
I have a Galaxy Apollo, have seen and used an Optimus One and a mate has a Wildfire. They are all much of a muchness - I'd be happy with any of them.
Performance wise, they all "feel" the same.
The wildfire is the worst screen by far, BUT it is still ok, it's good enough.
And what do you need flash for? after "showing off" with it, no-one i know uses it in anger day in day out, I've got some kinda flash on my Apollo and have never gone into it or seen it in use and I've never noticed!
If it's for watching vide, you need to worry more about the dataplan your going to be on more than the flash integration ;)

And your final comment "I'm going to be stuck with it" for 2 years is so defeatist. All of the phones are great for the price. Just get one and enjoy.
Oh, BTW, the Optimus one feels the the better of the phones you are interested in, if just for the better screen resolution. It's probably better than mine, but so what, I use my phone every day and never give it a second thought.
