Root voodoo5 kernels are here

bln works with voodoo 5, or at least it does for me. im sure you can run it with DJ05 but its a modified DJ05 kernel so all wont be well
Huh? DJ05 kernel (modified or not) + DJ05 modem + DJ05 ROM = no problem, or it should.

Just wondering if the Voodoo5 kernels are from the DJ05 base (no more D101), and if they incorporate BLN instead of "soft key light matches screen".

voodoo kernels change your file system from rfs (crappy) to ext4. the latest voodoo 5 is supposed to be a leap forward as jts most recent rfs kernels had caught up to old vooodoo imo.

our systems have terrible write speeds with rfs (apparently read is ok though) and this compensates for that.

my advice before going for voodoo, read up all you can on it...have the android sdk installed, and be prepared for a bork.

I will not pay for another phone. I will not take back a phone, that I screwed up, for replacement. And I will not go back to backberry. So with that said I will stay away from voodoo unless it becomes as safe and easy to install as the non-voodoo kernels being released....sigh Ill just be left behind

I was just saying u could probably run voodoo5 on dio1 but ud have issues (no haptick feedback at a minimum) as it is a dj05 kernel. A lot of us have installed the bln control app from the i9000 forum at xda to control having bln on or off.

Bln does not control the tineout of the soft key lights however

Ive been running Adrynalyne's modded voodoo5 kernel for about a half hour and I am amazed at the difference. Everything is significantly faster.

yup, seems good to me. have to see how things go over the next day or so to tell real speed/performance i guess and see if voodoo5 suffers from the infamous 2 day voodoo slow down.

of course we probably wont get to 2 days as jt is good for a kernel revision per day :)

the dj05 kernles up until now had significant (or at least noticable) lag compared to the best of DI01 so hopefully this cures that. :D

So are you saying you think he will catch voodoo with a non-voodoo that fast?

yeah keep the reports coming in boys.
As for me I continue to not flash it on despite adryn's fix
geeknik has me testing some nonvoodoo stuff go I need to stay off v5 for awhile
fyi he's got a little OC fire now so Im throwing logs on it :D:p;). his 1.2 is good but thats nothing new he's going after 1.3 now but thats not ready for public yet.
[now all I gotta do once he gets 1.3 stable is convince him to voodoo5 it and then we'll all be set till froyo]

I was extremely skeptical myself. After talking to quite a few experts on IRC, though, I was convinced enough to install it (11/22 Adryn modded Voodoo5).
Fastest. Ever.

You have any estimate on 1.3 not looking for exact but like a few days? Week?

Did you notice lag on the new non-voodoo kernels as well?

Im seeing some slight lag when scrolling. Also see it in Angry birds occasionally (launch a bird far and high and occasionally get a "skip" in the arc)

Its weird, I could swear it wasnt there when I first started with the newer kernels but maybe I just missed it.

Patiently waiting a few days to try Voodoo5, let see if I can hold out.

Never :( sadly jt and geeknik got into and so geeknik is now done with SF development. It was kind public and kinda messy I wasnt present during the moment it went down but scrolled thru and traded PM with geeknik. Its a shame really. I wont say anymore other that it sad :(:(

yeah i gotta look through last nights log, but thats a shame if thats how it turns out. i would have enjoyed an oc voodoo 5 :( hopefully maybe they can get over it at some point in the future

Currently running DJ05 0.5 and 1122 Voodoo5 test 1 from tonight. So far running peachy. :)

yeah i gotta flash test1 i was running adryn test from the afternoon and all was well so far :)

Kaessa can you confirm clockwork is now also peachy keen.
Also did you use test1 as you converting over zip or did you upgrade from a previous voodoo5?
Getting questions I dont have answers to so directing peeps here

cwr is fine as of test...i think test1 is just uv and some code clean up but adb in recovery and restoring backups was still a no go from what i can tell. apparently those shouldnt be that difficult a fix go forward (i dont think)

the issue with cwr was that it was a separate flash from regular 11/22 and thats what was screwing people up. adryn modified it to make it a full flash and thats when i jumped in

After reading up in the voodoo section I went ahead and installed 1122_test_voodoo_adryn_modded. over the stockdeodexedDJ05 rom. No problems at all and a nice boost in speed so far.

I did the lagfix_disable just to make sure it would work, and it did work fine thank goodness.

If I go back in and delete the lagfix_disable file I created in rom manager would it allow voodoo to work again or do I have to reflash it through cwr again ?

Thanks

as long as you didnt flash a non voodoo kernel over the disabled voodoo kernel, removing disable lagfix will renable ext4. it will reconvert with teh voice and such

Sweet...thx nitsuj17....

One more question: the search button brings up bing since I flashed the stockdeodexed DJ05. I thought that de-bing was included with this deodexed rom ?
I am using ADW and DolphinHD browser, but no go when I use the search button.
