Which ROM improves camera the most and still has 4G?

That's pretty much the question. I know a lot of rooters have tried dozens of ROMs... Give me your opinions on this please.

there really wont be anything different with the camera i mean you would need new hardware for it to be better.


i like cm 6.1 though cause they added the tap to focus while recording i like that.

I thought I'd read recently that some ROMs do improve the camera. Maybe that was wishful thinking or I misread something. Now I've got to go back and find those posts. The auto focus seems to be my biggest issue with the camera. If things don't stay still long enough all I get is a blur. Needless to say I've deleted a lot of blurry pics of my daughter.

Can anyone confirm or dismiss this idea I have that some ROMs improve camera performance?

it could be jsut placebo effect...but I am one of the ones that seems to see a difference going from fresh 3.3 to fresh 3.4

Thanks mr ed. Can you elaborate on how it is working better? Fresh 3.4 has 4g? I think that will be the first rom I try.

it has 4g. my pictures are coming out better ...less blurry pics...less dark pictures less washout from flash...still present at times but much less frequently

i at the same time have been adjusting settings like a mad man and changing them based on conditions as well so who knows.

I also have completely stopped using the shutter to take pics. I press on the area I wish to be focused and hold until it takes the pic

Those are exactly my gripes with the camera. I have young kid too so I'm using this thing all the time. The slightest movement and I've got a Picasso of her. I might need to search for a thread on the ideal settings for this camera. I gave up on the flash. If there isn't enough light for picture I don't even bother.

don't give up...change your iso settings. taking pictures in dark settings is difficult with any camera.

I have a 9 yr old..a german shep and a cat. I take plenty of pics and delete the bad/blurry ones. It's been that way with any camera other than my moms $3,000 dslr lol

but I am noticing that I am deleting less pics lately. feel free to look through all of the crappy pics there in photobucket lol

I think I'm going to jump the gun on myns Rom, fresh has been good to me but I would like a slightly different look, and more importantly I would like more internal memory, any know if myns Rom offers a lot of internal memory from a fresh wipe and if so how much memory do you get?

Just do the Firerat mod. Almost doubled my internal mem for apps after a clean install from roughly 350 to 675. (I don't recall the values exactly)

I believe ROMs based on the most current official ROM is what is resulting in the improved camera. The official update improved the camera, likely via updated pic processing algorithms. Any ROM based on the newest version would include this and have the better camera also.

no the newest release is for 004 hardware nothing below if anything it will make your camera worse since they are using a different camera with new evos.

plain jane htc update rooted or not seems to be causing issues with camera on pre 0004 versions


hortstu I have gone back to Fresh 3.301 as listed in my sig. 3.4 was just too quirky with random sluggishness and for some reason I began having signal issues.

when a dev gets a hold of a new HTC release they tweak it for everyone's use...I know no other way to explain this but some just are not grasping it.

yes...the official htc release is for 0004 hardware and won't work...

custom roms are tweaked by the dev...and whether it's placebo or not (as I mentioned before) the camera among many other things seems to be working better.

I even switched back to a 3.29 rom and the camera quality seemed to go back to crap.

is it better for certain...who knows...I don't care..I have made some adjustments, back on a 3.30 base rom and mine is working fine for now.

still watching the strange signal issue... I was at 40% time without signal...It's never been higher than 12% and usually it is 0

I am currently looking for what caused the issue but for about the past 5 days I have had poor phone signal, poor network connection and have been able to send any mms. i wiped dalvik, batt stats, and cache and all seems to be working now

I never had these issues until this past week while using fresh 3.4. flashed back to fresh 3.3 and the issues remained so I am almost convinced it wasn't the rom. If it occurs again I am going to flash a stock rom, and start rolling back radios

you dont get what im saying the ONLY thing different is the camera the new roms work for other hardware numbers but the camera app doesnt work well with lower hardware numbers how do you know they are even using the new camera apk?

I installed Calkulin's EViO 2 ROM v1.6.2 last night, with Netarchy's 4.2.1 BFS nohavs. 4G is enabled, & the camera seems much improved. Took a couple of pics in low light & didn't get the flash washout I usually get. It seems like the flash / shutter timing is much better than it was with the stock rom & kernel I had before.
