Remove an App - How

I have a couple apps I'd like to remove on my Droid X. According to instructions you are supposed to hold down on the app till it vibrates than you're able to drag it to the trash can. I do that but it just won't delete. Any help?

That just removes the icon from the home screen it doesn't remove the app.

You can either go to the market, then to downloads, and uninstall that way.
Or you can to go menu - applications - downloads, and remove that way.

What are the apps? Some of the apps that came on the phone cannot be removed unless you are rooted.

Good point. My method only removes downloaded apps not pre-installed.
