Try these steps:

  1. Ensure that USB debugging is enabled on your menu>settings>applications>development
  2. Connect the phone into a USB port on your computer.
  3. Start the application, and browse to the apk file you would like to install by clicking the "Choose a file" button.
  4. Once you have chosen the apk to install, the "Go" button will be enabled. Click it, and you'll see the command window which prompts you as it installs the file.
When finished, close the program and unplug the phone.

Having said all this, I used Appbrain's Fast Web Install which has now been disabled by Market!

Try downloading SDK tools set and see if you can get your phone recognized. Make sure you have the phone connected when booting up the computer.

Once you have SDK tools downloaded and let it install the packages.. do these next 3 steps .. it's the only way I got it to work :

(credit to nephron over at XDA... this is a snip from his great tutorial, and assumes you've already installed Android SDK.)

Setting up the Android SDK

1) Take the "android-sdk-windows" folder and move it to the root of your hard drive (C:\) (or whatever drive letter is the primary drive on your PC)
2) Right click on My Computer and click properties
Select the Advanced Tab /Advanced System Setting (Vista/Windows 7)
3)
Select Environment Variables...
Press New

For Variable Name type: adb
For Variable Value type: C:\android-sdk-windows\tools

---

That should enable Sideload Wonder to to find your device ID.

Good luck!!:)

The other way that I got it to work was go to Device Manager, click on Sony Ericsson sa0101 ADB Interface Driver, right click and hit Update Driver Software, then select Manually, and then Browse and select your SDK folder. It will then find the driver, and then the Device ID will show up in the Sideloader. Worked for me, but good to know there are other ways.
