Help keyboard & GPS bug questions

I like my Fascinate. It doesn't reboot a lot like my HTC Incredible, and the battery life is better. There were people saying it was a bug that had to do with signal, including Verizon, but I am certain that is a load of horseshit since mine had that problem with airplane mode enabled, underground and in areas of perfect service above ground.

Here's what I am looking to improve on the Fascinate. Any input highly appreciated!

a) Anytime I use a non standard-android keyboard, it lags.

Swype doesn't lag while swiping, but when typing, it lags if I go really fast. It will skip leeters. Same with HTC_ime_mod, the HTC Sense keyboard. It doesn't function as it does on the Incredible, or as the standard android keyboard does.

I'd like to be able to stick with swype. I am a fast typer after using these all the time for a year. Switching back and forth between android keyboard and swype is a nuisance!

b) Is there anyway to make the GPS not work like shit? The Incredible could see where I was in someone's front yard, this thing takes 90 seconds to lock on and when it finally does it's half a block to 2 blocks off from where I am!

c) Wifi tethering. It disconnects a lot.

Downloads - android-wifi-tether - Project Hosting on Google Code

Of this list, only wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre9.apk offers some stability or fnctionality. On the HTC Incredible, they all work fine, and allow one to stay connected for extended perods of time.

On the Fascinate

-it disconnects one regularly
-it doesn't allow you to change the passphrase. It always says it is too short, when it is not. anything but the default abcdefghijklm causes this error.

The disconnects occur whether or not encryption is used.
