HTC Hero Rooted phone overheated?

My HTC hero is rooted and today i think it got overheated while charging it and tethering it. I unplugged it from the charger and it will no longer turn on.
I plugged it back in and the light turns red, cause it's charging but willl not turn on.
what does this mean?
is my phone like broken?

Have you tried taking the battery out and put it back in and see if it boots up

yes, i have. still nothing. when i plug it in to charge the red light turns on and thats all what happens.

If you are rooted have you tried booting into recovery, hold the volume down button and the end bottom at the same time

For future reference, I would not tether while you are trying to charge the phone. The phone will just get too hot

I agree with andygu3 here. I have heard many stories of overheating by doing this and not just with Android handsets.

Charging and tethering creates a lot of heat. Try to avoid it in the future.
