OK so I am getting my 10th phone this year from verizon over the next couple days. I accidentally broke my old Samsung dumb phone at the beginning of the year and since then i have not gotten a properly working phone. I thought I would share my experience with you.

1st: Samsung dumb phone. broke after a year and a half
2nd: Droid Eris, trackball broke
3rd: Droid Eris, silent call issue
4th: Droid Eris: memory card reader broke
5th: Droid Eris, was supposed to be a droid but they sent me the wrong phone
6th, Droid, top and bottom were seperating or something, i don't really remember
7th, dust collected under the screen and couldn't be cleaned, I didnt want a replacement I just didnt want a massive amount of dust in between me and my screen. they just wanted to replace it so they did
8th, Droid, got it and the keypad was broken
9th, Droid, phones power button was only working some of the time.
10th, Droid 2, it should arrive in the mail by Wednesday

just so you know. I have not been asking them to upgrade my phone at all. I have never asked for other phones other than the one I have, verizon just keeps giving me crappy phones. and usually each phone lasts about 4 days, then i will get a good one that lasts a couple months before it breaks.

Is this sad or funny? I haven't decided yet. I could make you a list longer than 10 though of all the times i WISH i could've broken my Eris back in the day. That...freaking...phone was like the blackberry storm of the android world. How do you lag taking me to the phone dialer? I mean really? Really? Okay. I'm done.

But hey congrats on your new droid 2! What was their attitude like by the 9th phone when you called up and you were like "uh, another phone broke on me"? If that happened to me, they'd probably start accusing me of something fishy

People seem to have phone problems all the time. In all my years with Verizon I have only ever had a phone swapped out once and that was a Motorola Q many years ago. Even when I as managing not only my families 4 lines, but also my companies 5 others I never had any trouble. I guess I am just lucky?

Lucky is how the Jets have won the past two games haha. Im a big Jets fan and Holmes is a beast and Sanchez is starting to play well. I've had my fair share of problems with phones but none with D2. I feel like its a solid phone.

lol

Well verizon reps have been helpful, when I told the woman that I was on my 9th phone and having problems she let out a little gasp, and was just like WTF! I love using android and am a big fan. I loved my droid that worked. so I am hoping that the D2 is just even better.

yeah I also realized i forgot to include another Droid eris, so I am going onto my 11th phone this year. I will be honest and say I find it hilarious the number of phones I have gone through.

You are luckier than I am. I had been having issues with my Eris where 3G never locked in at times. For some reason 5 different Eris had this similar issue. One support person went as far to say it was my microsd card that is causing the problem. 6th phone they offered an early upgrade + the early upgrade fee, or take chances and go with another Eris and have a maintenance upgrade done on my line. I chose a D2, and can't be more content(will I could if the D2 had the D2G keyboard, but nothing big), I am sure you will like it. The speed is just gnarly, sound quality maybe better than the Eris, same goes with call quality, and the only downside is the motoblur interface, but that is an easy fix. Enjoy.

most of them are broken when I got them, and i didn't do anything to the software to break them.

if they give me a faulty phone I am going to let them know about it!

4 eris's and 4 droids and there always just happen to be something so wrong with them they were worth returning? Ehhhhhh...okay

I second the other guy. Be careful with this one

yeah damn, if only i hadn't had the phones break. damn. if you knew how frustrating it is to have to go through 4 phones in a week. you would know i am not bullshitting.

and I do take care of my phones, they don't get dropped and they get cleaned daily.

you have a phone that becomes unusable because you have made a phone call recently, Or a phone that when you get it will not read memory cards. I have not asked for the upgrades at all. the reason I took a droid 2 over a 5th droid is because I thought the phone would probably be more reliable and lass prone to break because less of them have been returned.

Update us when you return this one too. There are people who do this in restutants too, they always find something wrong in order to get a meal comped. Professional scammers.

Right now, I have an issue with my d2 sending pics in texts. I could probably get a new phone if I bitched enough. Maybe, whenever a second or third issue arises, I'll look into it since I can survive with the issue.

Wait, there is a lot of dust on my d2 as well.... maybe that is the issue that gets me a dx

That text picture issue is pretty serious. I hear about that a lot. Aren't pictures only supposed to be in email? I smell a massive recall

I left my phone in a sandbox and now there's dirt under the screen. I could probably complain but I figure just wait until the droid 3 comes out. That way I can get rid of this stupid dust manufacturing phone for a phone that won't have any issues. Unless I decide there is

ha I dont think you have had as many issues I have had with my verizon phones so here is the list

HTC Ozone - Software and Hardware Issues went through 8 Replacements within a week
Samsung Omnia - Went through 6 Of these all with a hardware issue basically not letting me change the brightness
HTC Touch Pro 2 - Went thru a few of these within a month it had software issues
(Damn Microsoft Mobile Windows)
From there I went to a Droid that one i had probably 7 Replacements stating from
1st Wouldnt start up
2nd When shipped keyboard didnt work
3rd DOA
4th Charging port was broke couldnt charge the phone
5th Activation Issue tech support had a failure on the system which froze the phone
6th DOA
7th Water Damage
Droid 2 - Once it did the update to 2.3.20 it failed to restart and was stuck on bootloader
2nd droid 2 DOA
3rd Wouldnt let tech support activate phone software issue
4th DOA
5th Water Damage
6th kept disconnecting me from phone calls or would dial 911 when it was not being touched
I got ahold of corporate and they did an exchange for me to the Samsung Fascinate

so that is where im at on phones so if you think you got it bad look at me haha... I even joked to verizon and to motorola that maybe i should be a tester to phones before they come out...and none of the phones where rooted or anything
