Help How Much Internal Memory Do You Keep Free?

This is my biggest problem with my Desire is the memory. I try to keep around 20-30 meg free but that is hard to do. Now that I am on 2.2 I think I have to reset my phone again and see if I can keep my memory up. I wish all apps were to SD card.....

So do I. I'm considering rooting, but I don't think I have the balls or patience.

I've read about this one-click rooting apps, but they sound a little too easy and good to be true.

got 12gb on my SD card and naff all on my phone memory. Not enough apps are transferable:(

Same here - hardly any free space on my internal memory. I have transferred every possible app to SD card and have Clear History to remove caches, call history etc. - which I hate doing since having call history and some of the other things are very useful. I've even cleared old texts etc. - all short term measures, the memory eventually runs out anyway.

I now run with a permanent low memory warning even though unmovable apps only account for a third of internal memory (according to App2SD). Where the rest of it is going I have no idea. Pretty crap really - hopefully later HTC phones have learnt from this big mistake.

Root it and flash with a custom ROM. You will not be bothered anymore with a shortage of internal storage space.
Read the sticky topics in the Desire rooting section and if you need any help, let us know.

Somewhere between 15 - 20mb. I'm unrooted. Really bugs me - probably should root to get more space, but as above not got time or patience. Do worry about bricking it as well. It does run noticeably slower when it is down at 15 though. 20 is better.

One thing I've noticed, I just deleted Google Shopper (to make way for the Angry Birds update), and it seemed to free up much more space than Apps2SD reported (and more than the size of the app itself). It was on SD card already, but when I deleted it it freed up an extra 5mb - 6mb of internal.
