Gingerbread & 4G questions

Yep, many people seem to not understand that LTE/4G involves significant hardware differences and is not something that can be addressed solely via changes to firmware and/or software. So any Verizon device you purchase that is not specifically LTE/4G enabled or compatible, which includes all currently available Verizon phones, is going to be hardware limited to 3G.

Im just wondering if anyone knows or if you have heard about when and if the DROID X will be getting Gingerbread? Also im wondering if anyone has heard anything about if the DROID X is going to be able to convert into 4G?
Welcome to android forums. I'm glad you took the time to start a thread! Fwiw, I generally use wifi and generally don't do 3g. These carriers advertise 4g, charge for it, be but don't have it available for most users! At this point, it's pretty much just a scheme for more $$$, imo.
