Root Metamorphing Clock/Alarm away.

Hey guys, I've looked everywhere on how to do this and nothing has turned up that I feel safe enough pursuing without asking first. I recently flashed the sg11 Charity rom and have been wanting to get rid of the alarm icon as well as the clock icon. I know that Metamorph allows you to do it...but I don't have the slightest idea on how to go about it. Can anyone upload the .zip that would do this for me...or point in me the right direction.

I may be a noob postwise because my count is low, but I've been trolling/rooting/flashing my phone since...April, I think? Either way...I belong to many different forums and this one, that prides itself on the message being: come on in, say hi, ask questions, dont be shy....and your snide comment is the first one to reply to me...really shows alot about the community here. I figured I posed a pretty great question which I'm sure someone with more experience has a simple answer to. A question which I'm sure more than just myself would like answered. So in this case...

hint: Being sarcastic and mean wont get you anywhere...especially on an online forum.

this made me lulz...

If I knew the answer I might've helped you out until you posted your smart a$$ remark above... Just a hint for you in the future should you need to ask for help in an online forum for advice:

"Being Sarcastic and mean wont get you anywhere...especially on an online forum." ~quoted from the same person that was making sarcastic comments not two posts above this quote. ;)

I'd say you've certainly been trolling forums...

Had I known the answer to your question when I saw your thread when there were no posts in it, I would have responded. I didn't, so what did you want? Should I go into every thread that I can't help with and say "hi, sorry, I can't help you, bye"? I'm sure many others felt the same way and were willing to help you. Of course, then you get all rude and impatient on us and expect us to answer your question in under a day and lose all hope of anyone caring.

What does this show about the community? We act kind towards anyone that's willing to work with us, and we don't take kindly to spoiled brats that whine when they don't get instant gratification for their questions.

I hope someone on one of your many other forums knows the answer to your question. ;)

now when you say remove the clock/alarm icon are you talking about the one in the notification bar or the actual app icon itself? Im not familiar with metamorph but i do use ninjamorph sometimes to theme roms myself and worst comes to worst, I can teach you how to change the alarm in the notification bar as well as the time to black (or what ever color your notification bar is) so that way they dont show up in the notification bar.

this isnt an ideal fix but it would be a good temporary fix.

after literally 1 minute of googling I came upon this link, this appears to have the exact info you are looking for. requires a bit of work but does what you need.

[HOW-TO] Hide various Icons from the Status Bar - xda-developers

also try ultimate droid or cyanogen mod, they both provide an option in their settings to hide the clock.

Before you get an answer you may also want to post up what you are running, 2.2 stock, frg83, custom rom, etc. I dont know how to remove the clock or alarm icons but from what I gather custom roms can move these files around so there wouldnt be a 1 shot does all MM you could apply. ;)

Pretty sure if you took a second to stop bagging on me so bad, you'd realize I said I was running the latest Charity rom.

...and yes, I was speaking of the notification bar and how to get rid of them, not to change their color. I was running BB v5 and enjoyed having a theme over it which got rid of the clock and figured if it was possible to get rid of the clock I might as well ask about the Alarm while I was at it too.

yeah im not sure then, apart from trying a different rom. is there anything about charity rom you like most?

I was giving its battery life a test. I have been running three different Roms at the moment. Switching between Charity, MIUI, and BB v5. BB was the first one my phone and it has been my favorite out of everything (especially since the Elegant Steel theme came out for it). I had been running BBv5 for awhile and wanted to try something fresh that had a comparable battery life and Charity sounded like it was the man for the job....I just wasnt too fond of the wasted space the alarm icon and clock were taking up. I've got a clock on my homescreen so when you think about it I have three clocks staring me down all the time (The one on lockscreen, the homescreen widget, and the one in the corner.) And out of those, the one that does me the least good is the notification bar one.

BTW, thank you gallandof, for being civil and nice and trying to work with me on something. A little bit goes a long way with me.

understandable :p im going to try something with my droid see if it works to get rid of the alarm icon, so ill update in a sec and let you know. (im going to try and just delete the image file for the alarm clock icon.)

EDIT: howd you like miui? when I ran it, twas buggy and laggy so I had to revert back to ultimate droid 2.3, battery life with stock rom gets me close to 20+ hours of uptime with moderate usage, 12 or so of heavy usage.

so what I am trying to do to remove the alarm clock icon, was to find the rom file I downloaded. opened it with win rar, navigated to system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi

then i found the alarm icon, i believe it was called ic_lock_idle_alarm.png

first attempt got me stuck in a boot loop so that didnt work. gonna have to try something different now.

try using 7zip and opening the file as an archive. when you use winrar/winzip you have to resign or something other to the file. using 7zip to open it as an archive lets you edit files within without changing the check sum. I use 7zip when I download ROMS and edit the system files and notifications to drop my own in and get rid of any bloatware/apps I don't want prior before ever flashing it. Some of my tech jargon may be a little off but you may want to give it a shot...
