Keyboard Options

I just got my Droid 2 today, and I have a few questions to ask with one notable one.

Most importantly, is it possible to change the virtual keyboard into an ABC style instead of the traditional QWERTY? I'm not sure which I would stick with in the end, but I would like to try out another orientation.

Wi-fi drains the battery, right? I have horrible phone service at my house(home for the holidays) but at school the service is great, should I bother using Wi-Fi regularly?

Also is it possible to have the screen wake up when it is touched? The lock screen seems a bit unnecesary considering that there is already a lock button, so it would be nice to disable one or the other.

EDIT: Also, it seems like my phone has decided to spam my contact list with all of my Facebook "friends." That seems like it could cause some problems...

Also do you have any suggestions for a music player over the standard one? I have not really looked through the market yet personally(mostly due to the horrible service here), so any suggestions are welcome.

If you want to take a stab at another keyboard, you'll have to download a different one from the market. There are various kinds to choose from. Wi-fi does drain battery, so I keep it off unless I'm using it.

Y5-Battery Saver will turn wifi on and off based on proximity to known networks. If I want to use wifi in certain locations, Y5 will turn it on when I'm home and then turn it off when I leave. That way I don't have to remember to turn off wifi to save battery.

The lock screen is necessary since you can easily touch the screen or push the button while in your pocket and etc. I don't think there's a way of disabling the lockscreen.

That's just how it is with the intergrated social network. I don't like it either. Hopefully they will give us an option wether to sync them or not.

There's always poweramp and winamp for alternative music players. They are on the market.

Smart keyboard pro and swift key are good keyboard alternatives.

Thank you all for the advice. i will look into those programs in a bit but I have one more question. Is it normal for pictures to transfer MUCH slower than music files? I don't remember it even aking up to a minute to copy over just south of 1 gb of mp3s, but Windows is telling me that it should take 35 minutes to copy just 10 mb of jpegs...

EDIT: Also, with "No Lock" is it possible to somehow keep the 20 minute(or whatever you set it to) security pin?

EDIT:: Also, what is the picture of a red liquid pouring with a camera, gallery, and some grayed out button 2 screens to the right of home under the music thing? Also, is there a way to get info about random widgets on my screens like that one?

EDIT::: Also, is there a way to separate my music from ringtones so they won't pop up in players? On my old phone I just used BitPim to stuff the custom ones into the system ringer folder, but it would be nice if there is another way.

I like winamp for my music player. And you can install the HTC keyboard if you don't like the stock keyboard, swype or the others you tried from the market.

Is the issue with mixing ringtones with music solvable at all? I usually play all songs on shuffle so every now and again I get a random suprise from a ringer.

Why not just put your music in a seperate folder?

Also, the Swype keyboard that comes pre-installed can be used in a way similar to the stock HTC keyboard. I've found Swype to be faster than typing, but the keyboard works with the traditional tap to type method.
