swype emotions

so i always wondered how to get emotions using swype, then yesterday i noticed the little key on the bottom right that had a smiley face, click on it and there were a bunch of options.

i thought, that was weird i've never noticed it there before. so today I look again and it's not there. how do i get that button back!!!1!!ONE!

For number pad you can trace from swype key to f.

And for arrows, swype to sym.

What app were you in when you noticed the emoticon button?
It is actually not there in every app...for example, if you use ChompSMS for txting, there is an option to display either the "enter" button or the emoticon button.

You can put a normal smiley down there in Handscent by going in to Settings > Application Settings > Action Key-Type ... then select SMILE.

But I know what you're talking about with the smiley being active. I stumbled into this option searching high and low to figure out why one day, for no reason, I had smiley's instead of the return button. I still don't know how to get that back, but I did learn Swype calls that button a "Magic Button", so surely there is an option somewhere that I never found. In the mean time, this is working as a backup. I just miss the other smileys.

Actually, you can set up your own emoticons by adding them to the dictionary.

For example, if I wanted "", I'd first type it, and then add it to the dictionary. While on the regular keyboard, simply swype from J (":") to P (")"), and you'll get "".

You can do this for email addresses and even passwords (it registers number/letter combinations without needing to switch to the symbol/numerical Swype keyboard).

So, if I had the email zxcv@gmail.com, I'd add it to the dictionary, and Swype z-x-c-v-w-g-m-a-i-l-.-c-o-m; the W automatically is registered as "@". A password of 3t90eesz02 would simply need y-t-v-b-e-e-s-z-b-t.

Hm... I've always been using Swype this way, using it now that way too. Are you sure you added it to the dictionary?

make sure you hit the space bar after typing it in.

i use it all the time because i mix portuguese and english with my gf

I never needed to hit the space after typing custom words... though hopefully it'll solve the user's specific issue.

I HATE swipe. I've used it for almost 3 months and all it has caused is problems in my texting. Much rather use HTC Sense keyboard.
