I am looking at buying a 101 which will have Andriod 2.2. I know that 3 is better but I want my new toy now!

The online User Manual implies that firmware OS updates are easy. But does that also imply that they are free?

Can I assume that if I buy a 101 now, that I will get a free of charge upgrade to Andriod 3 when it is released. In fact will Verision 3 even run on an 8GB 101?

There are no standard hardware specs at this point so there's no such thing as "future proof", standard advice is that you buy your gadget for what they can do now rather than for what they may be able to do tomorrow.

By the time android 3 comes out, there would be a slew of other official tablets using it and you can choose from those. Which is probably around half a year from now.

Like I said in another thread. If you're looking for a long term device, you're six months too early.

Hi, I just bought the Archos 101 android 2.2, and didn't know that there is the Archos 101 g9 android 3.2 already realeased....Is there anyway I can upgrade my Archos 101 firmware to 3.2 now?

No. The latest firmware for the gen8 models came out yesterday and it's still Android 2.2.1.
I don't believe that they will ever have a 3.x version for the gen8 tablets.
