Accessories Add on 8X camera lens 4 DX

A google or ebay search returns tons of 8x add on cell phone lens that claim to let you use a cell phone camera in some type of tele mode. Prices seem to start at around $US15 and I have been able to turn up at least two distinct models, as well as one that claims to be for the iphone only.

Over all I have been very happy with the pix from my dx, but this seems like something that could come in handy for some things. Has anyone had experience with this type of thing?

those won't work on a Droid X. They will work on an Increidble though. They attach by sticking to the metal rim around the lens with a magnet. Droid X is a square lens with no extra metal around it.

People were selling fish eye and macro lens for iphones before that would work with incredibles that did the same thing. Sadly, we cannot take advantage of them. :(

There are some add on lens that work via a magnet, but these use something similar to a car dock/mount around the cell phone to hold the lens up to the back of the phone. They claim to be universal and do seem to have some type of adjustment to move the lens over a fairly large opening on the back. A look at pix of one in the ebay link shows why a pix is worth a thousand words.

But you may have a point about it not fitting on a DX since the camera lens is in the corner on the back of the phone.

I have bought lots of stuff (cases, docks, batteries, charges, protectors) from the ebay guys from China and the prices are good and they all have worked with no problem. I do not have a problem paying ~$US15 for one of these things, but I would like to get the best one for my dx. The only thing I do not like about buying ebay stuff from China is it takes a couple of weeks to get it delivered and Christmas is probably going to make it longer.

Any other insight welcome.
