Root Download and Install HtcLockScreen.apk

Hey y'all, question. I used Root Explorer to remove HtcLockScreen.apk to get the original vanilla lock screen, but am told that might cause stability issues on my phone, so now I'm wondering, how can I get it back on my phone and put it back where it belongs. I'm using the stock ROM. :)

Thanks in advance!

The main issue I've heard of is that your alarm will never turn off without battery pull unless you're using the AOSP clock. In any case, are you running a custom rom? If so, just reflash it without wiping data. Yes, you'll lose any other flashed mods, but you won't lose any data, and you'll get the htc lockscreen back. If you're not, I'm sure you can find it on xda; just do a search for it over there. If you want to use the AOSP lockscreen, use calkulin's mod found here:

[ Mods ][ 11-3 ] Calkulin's Mods & Fixes for the EVO [MMS l USB Tether l Reboot Mod] - xda-developers

That will give you the AOSP clock as well.

I actually got another alarm program -- the fantastic Alarm Clock Plus -- to avoid that problem, and it works perfectly. I'm using no custom ROM, just the stock ROM. Been thinking of trying one though...

It's definitely worth a try, assuming you have full root. Just make a backup, first. If you like the stock look, there are plenty of custom roms that don't change a whole lot.

Just on a side note, from now on, you're better off renaming or moving files rather than removing them entirely ;)

Hey kids, question, I downloaded the file above and extracted he apk file using root explorer and moved it to the system/app folder, then rebooted. Sadly, even with the file in the right place, and rebooting and wiping the caches, the AOSP lock screen still shows up, rather than the HTC lock screen. I have to take this phone into a Sprint store to have them try to fix the USB port, so I want the original lock screen on there.

Might y'all know what I need to do to put the lockscreen back? Thanks!!
