Help Cryptic code in text messages?

samsung moment.

i didn't try to reflash back to the stock ROM, i can't stand the stock OS. i'm hoping i don't need to do anything like that as i'd have to back up a lot onto my SD card beforehand. I'm just curious if anyone's had a similar problem or if anyone knows what may be causing this issue?

Hmm, I used to learn Svenskar (Swedish) and some of those symbols look very familiar...

To answer your question it seems others have a similar problem to ur exact situation .... very strange:

Can someone tell me what this is? Where I can go to decode it? - Yahoo! Answers

Looks like that is Swedish / Scandinavian characters hmm try look here maybe:

this seems to be trending despite whether the phone's are stock or rooted. there also doesn't seem to be any real correlation between texting clients and these cryptic texts.

my phone has been rooted with the same ROM for a while now and this is the first time this has happened. i've asked people to resend their texts and sometimes i'll receive an intelligible reply, other times i'll be texted with the same unreadable response.

Hmm try this here maybe wow i dunno :(

Sms Encryption applications - Android

and here too maybe wow this is crazy:

Pattern Encrypt Decrypt applications - Android

those would be useful links if i was interested in allowing this issue to persist.

i appreciate your help but, i'd really like to get to the root of this problem. i have never had to use an extra application to decrypt anything on my phone and i have zero desire to start, especially when i have no idea what prompted this issue to begin in the first place.

Hmm very strange!

Hmm have you got another phone and / or sim card from a different service provider to see whether it could be the Network or the phone and it's software?

Hmm check if it just the phone or the network (service provider) that is causing this bizarre situation here..... wow this is really strange!

Very strange! :(

I am sorry but i don't know how else to help you :(

call your carrier. I was getting similar messages before, called verizon, and found out they were coded messages meant to be used by the Backup Assistant program. the messages were basically telling the software to update. The backup assistant thought I still had my old phone, and since I have an android now, there is no need for backup assistant, but the messages kept coming.
