Beautiful Widgets not taken down by HTC?

It is not live, those pictures are from his twitter, these are the ideas I sent him. They literally took 5 minutes each, So if i were to actually go into development with these I would work on them so more.


These are my ideas. I sent both to the dev, but he wants to go basic I think.

I really like the look of this one, not in love with the low contrast gray scheme, but the design is sharp and slick looking. Much prefer it to the new Beautiful Widget clock so far.

Well, thanks for all the positive feedback. I have been workign with android sdk for the last 8 or so hours and am finally starting to get somewhere. Ill deffinatly update the forums if i get this done. Ive got the weather part pretty much working, just need to do the clock and styling.

I like both of the ones you made. Not quite as much as the original, but as long as another one comes out, that looks like one of yours I am sure I will be happy. Getting my Droid in 6 days! Longest 6 days of my life. I have been waiting since before the Droid came out to get it. But my upgrade is on the 23rd.

I think its because BW actually works well a majority of the time. WW has gotten a bad rap for their free app and their donate app is decent, but doesn't get updated as regularly as BW, which makes BW better supported and more widely popular. HTC went for the "big dog" app first, as it were.

I thought you weren't a developer! How are you figuring all this out? Dude, if you get your widget up and running, let us know!!! I'm seriously digging the digi clock, but yeah, a little more contrast in the numbers would be great.

Good ideas guys, but are you all assuming that BW will be "pulled" off our phones, or are you guys designing something for those who couldn't get a hand on BW since it was pulled off the market?

Current users of BW shouldn't have an issue with continuing to use BW, I would think.

That is really really nice brettlewis, I would definitely use it! If you need to be put in contact with some dev's let me know, I have a few of them in my gtalk. That is much nicer looking the BW or WW, one suggestions is if you can make skins for different colors, maybe not in your first release but it would be something to work on later.

P.S. The WW dev hasn't gotten any C&D's from HTC, and it has had around 30-40 thousand downloads so I'm not sure why they haven't sent him anything, from what I remember BW had about the same and WW was actually out a bit before BW. Not sure why anyone would say he doesn't update regularly because in the last month he has made 4 updates so that's pretty good I think.

brettlewis, just a thought for the digital clock. When it's daytime, make the numbers white, and when it's night, make the numbers gray (like you currently have it).

I am excited there are numerous devs working on a replacement for this. I have BW and tried WW just for the skinning ability... but didnt like it as much and got a refund... The new ideas are great! But being a female I personally dont like the fonts of the clocks... on any of them really... THIS IS JUST MY OPINION So dont bash me I love the look of the clock on the digital clock widget... if something like that can be combined with the weather and weather animations from BW that would be the perfect weather widget for me Hopefully levelup will adopt the idea of being able to skin the widget!!!

I didn't try WW but BW on the flipclock and weather portion actually was extremely nice and actually exactly copied the weather animations from HTCs newest sense on the HD2 meaning it was even better than HTC's weather widget on their current android deviced like the eris which had the old contained animations, not the sweet fullscreen animations.

Great work on the design man.

One suggestion if I may though. One thing I would like to have in any kind of weather widget would be the ability to get a radar display. Now you could either add a new button to display a radar in a little popup display like BW's forecast does, or have a button that can be customized by the user to link to other applications that launch a radar. I check the weather radar all the time so this would be a heck of a draw for me.

I really hope you get the ball rolling on your design.
