Help Horrible video playback

Ive tried quite a few different video converters at different settings and nothing seems to work (suggestions from this forum and others like xda) Its always the same jerky playback. Although Ive noticed that if I play the full clip and then restart it, it would play just fine.. What gives???


I have an unbranded unrooted desire. Any suggestions

I assume you're talking about third party videos, not ones that you've recorded with the built-in video recorder? The settings that work for me are:

Video codec: MPEG4
Video size: 720 x 480
Frame rate: 15 fps
Video bitrate: 700K
Audio codec: AAC
Audio channels: 2
Audio bits: 32000
Audio bitrate: 64K
Output file type: 3gp

Here's the command line I use with ffmpeg under Linux:
ffmpeg -y -i $1 -vcodec mpeg4 -s 720x480 -r 15 -b 700k -acodec libfaac -ac 2 -ar 32000 -ab 64k -f 3gp $OUTFILE

Hey thanks for your suggestion. I tried it and yes it played with less lag, unfortunately video quality is really poor compared to the buggy hidef videos I converted. I also tried using different video playback apps like act one and meridian to no avail.



I honestly dont get it.
Is my device defective??
Can this issue be resolved if I rooted my device??
Do i need a task killer?? ( I've read numerous post discouraging the use but if it helps I'll take it, hell I'll even pay for it.)

That's how much crappy video playback bugs me
