Root What is 'com.htc.bg' - Force Close Issue

I don't notice any problems with the usuability. Random com.htc.bg Force Closes. I didn't freeze or disable any app with this listed.

Not really a force close.. just an 'has stopped unexpectantly'

I remember this being an issue with facebook sync, but I can't find any recent information on it. How often does it force close? Maybe try turning off facebook sync under accounts sync and see if it stops.

What's funny is that I just Frooze the HTC Facebook with Titanium Back UP... before I read your answer.

For some reason I felt like it was happening everytime my facebook automatically updated and decided to eliminate the dual FB's running anyways. If the problem goes away and Facebook works correctly I'm going to remove the Apk.

(I have the FB app and prefer it over the HTC widget anyways.)

Lol, well there you go then. Are you talking about removing HTC facebook or the regular facebook app? Be careful removing something like HTC facebook. Always make a backup, and always save and move things instead of actually removing them. Remember that HTC facebook is somewhat integrated in that facebook contact photo sync and things like that are a HTC thing.

Yea, HTC Facebook, I have the APP frozen right now and am testing the Sync capabilities as we speak. I think SyncmyPix is going to eliminate any issue I have (basically all I count on are the Pictures) with not having HTCFB. I have a clean NAND backup and good Titanium BackUps of the apps when it comes time for any OTA updates.

One thing I wonder is how this will affect battery life. My FB app updates everytime I open it and that's all I am going to require - I had the HTC update ever 4 or 8 (can't remember).

Yea, SyncMyPix was able to keep the Pictures updated while having NO HTC FB apk is not causing any issues and seems to have eliminated the com.htc.bg problem.

I don't ever review status updates within my contacts/people fields anyway. I go to the APP


Note: This has eliminated a few things right away I notice:

-Email Addresses no longer automatically appear in GMAIL when you compose a letter
-Phone numbers still transfer/show in Handscent SMS
-No more HTC/FB Notifications (which only worked half the time anyway)
-HTC Facebook no longer listed in your drawer or Account/Sync
-Pictures no longer Sync automatically.

**If you download Facebook's app it will still work as designed**

If you choose to eliminate HTCFacebook.apk:

-Pictures can still Sync through the use of a specific app: SyncmyPix
-Also, there are ways to export Facebook email addresses to Gmail & Yahoo accounts
-Facebook's non-HTC app still work's correctly on HTC phones (including the FBphonebook folder)
