i voted for fooling around...lol it comes before any phone....

but on serious note...I dont like Evo..first it CDMA...ATT has better coverage then Sprint....4G is a term used to woo customers....

Captivate is perefect as phone...good screen, size, features..(except GPS and Froyo oh well)

But HTC has better customer support...and emerging company so will be good in future..tough choice buddy..

What's wrong with CDMA? I'm pretty sure that it works better in low signal conditions that GSM does. There has to be some disadvantages though.

No data transmission while on a voice call (last I heard).

Locked to a particular phone... can't just swap a SIM card around like you can on GSM. Have to get the carrier involved instead.

Limited phone options... GSM is a global standard and you can use phones from all over the world. My last phone was a model never released in the USA that ended up coming from Italy.

sremick has the pros of that (I'll verify all correct) - I think the pro of CDMA is that voice and call quality do not tie to number of bars. I have clearer calls and no drops - my AT&T experience for voice was simply not as good.

But - since going this route, when I go overseas, I'm forced to rent a local phone. A _few_ countries have CDMA (every rule has an exception) - but not so that I care, because I don't visit them.

I found the Razr choice in the poll interesting - enough to make me pipe up that I'll always miss my StarTAC.

(PS - I'm the guy that changed the poll. We're kinda trying harder for family-friendly, especially in light of heavy lurking during the holidays. And a rose by any other name and a nod to a blind horse - hope you're all ok with that - always PM me for feedback or suggestions.)

too continue with that...

if u can unlock GSM phone u can switch carriers...I am not sure if u can buy unlocked EVo..it has to come with sprint in US...and u have to use it with Sprint...

if u go out of US, ur phone is just good as Mp3 player and camera..

I unlocked my captivate, i can use it when I go back to India...or i can leave ATT when they screw with my head,,,,

Lol come on man! How does the captivate beat friggin optimus prime!!

Number 10 - Fewer moving parts.
9 - Doesn't talk back moralizing.
8 - Unlikely to become central to a full-scale military involvement.
7 - Can be hidden on your person.
6 - Can be replaced for significantly less cost.
5 - Fits on your table next to a tuna sandwich.
4 - Won't question your choice of applications.
3 - No boosters - less collateral damage during flight.
2 - Won't complain if you decide to cover it with a screen protector.

And the #1 way that the Captivate beats Optimus Prime...

You and your BFF can each have your very own!

Ah. I forgot - I have an EVO - it has an app to turn to into an airplane and fly you to your dream island. (Sorry - Evo/iP4 launch meme that I couldn't resist.)

I have both. They both are excellent in their own ways. You can't really compare them directly due to the fact one is GSM and one is CDMA.

Evo has awesome GPS, front facing camera. Captivate has great screen, just like my Epic.

It's pointless to compare them directly against each other.

I voted Optimus Prime because the comparison is pointless.

I've had my Captivate since they were released, and my EVO for about two months.

In order, my Captivate is my absolute favorite, the EVO is tied for second with my Droid X.

Although I am one who likes a really large display, and obviously the 4.0" display of the Captivate is a bit smaller, it's brilliance, color balance and contrast is far better than that of the EVO. Also build quality of the Captivate is better. Of the four different Galaxy S variants for the US market, the Captivate with it's all metal back, and superbly fitting battery door is far and away the best built.

Other features of the Captivate that cause it to be my favorite, are the consistent speed and long battery life that I enjoy. I have no lag issues, no hickups of any sort. It just works. In fact it's so much better than any of the others is every little area, that overall I have nothing but good things to say about it.

You will notice that I own a lot of Android phones... I'm such an addict... :) So the only point being that it's the first hand experience of using each and every one of these on a regular basis, that makes the Captivate such a standout.

If I was to choose just one phone to have (who am I kidding? I've never owned just one phone....heh!) it would be the Captivate.

Cheers... :)
