[Sprint]Actual data limit?

I keep finding conflicting information regarding this matter. I recently bought the evo and wondering what the actual data limit using a program such as pdanet(using 4g and not subscribed to hotspot). Is it truly unlimited or is there a 5gig/month limit?

Yup, I actually just finished watching The Big Lebowski via that exact method. I average probably 5 movies or so a week that way!

As long as you have one of the Everything Data plans (the 69.99 one they advertise) or one of the Simply Unlimited plans you are good to go. Unlimited Data! I've used over 10gb's every month for the last three months. Its really a great thing!

The rumored 5 GB limit is a soft cap. They can chose to throttle your data speeds if they wish after you exceed 5 GB, but you shouldn't see any overage charges.

Most likely the worst Sprint would do is terminate your contract.

Just because Sprint hasn't done anything yet, doesn't mean they won't.

Why would they terminate his contract......so he has almost used 17Gigs of data on the sprint network and only used a little over 100Mb of roaming on Verizon....as far as I see it I don't see anything contract breaking...

in the past 4 years ive used anywhere from 3gb to 40gb and i have yet to have ever had any issue what so ever. the 5gb cap implemented in 07 was for new data cards. if you had one before that you were grandfathered in. there currently is no data cap, overage charge, or throttling with sprint.

since ive had my evo these past few months ive been around 18gb each month. last june i reached 51 gb with my blackberry.

Not to be rude but, can you read?

Bottom line, if you continue to do things that they don't want you to do, they will do the above to stop you from doing those things. There is no cap on data, just want you can do when you are connected.

If you do things that disrupt the network, like excessive netflix, connecting to your pc, or peer to peer, they will smack you down depending on how much you mess with their network. If you are the only one on the tower and no one else uses it, then you can go bonkers. If you are on a tower in which 1000 people use, you will be nailed for going over as little as 500mb, depending on what they think is excessive.

About 99% of this thread people would probably end up throttled, but we are about 1% of the whole network.

I am throttled on 3g, I know I am, but oh well, I abuse the system away.

a few things worth keeping in mind when it comes to using excessive amounts of data...

1) you are not the only person using your tower. streaming 10g worth of stuff is gonna slow down everyone
2) using 10g a month is like hanging a giant red flag on your account saying that you are likely (i said likely, not definately) using tethering without paying for it...which going to whats posted above, is a violation of your contract
3) if everyone starts using this much data, dont expect it to be unlimited for long. simply put, its a business... when it gets to the point that they are no longer making money, they will make changes so they are making money. Dan Hesse openly stated that they will stay unlimited "as long as we can". using rediculous amounts of data will surely shorten the "as long as we can" period of time.
