Help Please help. 1.6 is up to date

hi guys.
I've just traded my psp for x8.
However, I cannot update it from 1.6 to 2.1
I have downloaded the latest PC companion.
when I get it connected. it shows my phone 1.6 and up to date.
what should i do?

You could also try updating using Sony Ericsson Update Service rather than PC Companion as sometimes this works when PCC says up to date. You can download it from Sony's website.

Where abouts do you live? Maybe they haven't rolled out the 2.1 update in your country yet.

I have tried using Update Service. after installation. it's still 1.6 :/

Mine is 1240-0429 (back of the cover) or 1231-8889 (near sim card slot inside)
I didn't fine this model in the article.
Is there another way to change it?

In my country they rolled out the update, but I can't do it on my phone because my phone is branded and I have to wait till my operator rolls out their own version of update (totally annoying cause they just put another startup wallpaper with their logo on it and for that I have to wait till the end of the year)
