Possible to get a bigger SD card for eris?

and was curious if anyone has actually found a bigger microSD card for their eris and has it working fine? I would love to get my itunes music on here...but my library is bigger than 7gb...

Any help is appreciated!

I was curious on what to do with my current SD card if I get a new one. Can I transfer all of my current eris stuff onto the new one?

That one looks ok - I have an 8 GB class 6 SD card in my phone.

Sure, you can copy files over. There are all sorts of ways - you can tether your phone and mount the SD to your computer with your current SD card, copy all of the files to your computer, then do the same and copy them back over to the new one. Or you could do the same thing without the phone if you have an external card reader. You may want to make sure that hidden files are visible when you do this, just in case some of the files and folders are hidden.

I have about 4 gb of 7gb left on my phone...so that plus itunes would be a lot..about 3.96 gbs in itunes music..so an SD card would suit me, especially 16gb.

Well thats good, it doesnt sound too hard to do.

I am still of the opinion that the size and class rating of the SD card will not affect in a meaningful way the overall perception of "speed" of the Eris. Certain operations - such as saving a camera shot (large file writes), will be somewhat faster on class 6 cards, but you won't notice a performance improvement due to an increase in the capacity of the card.

If I were you, I would right-size your SD card depending on your needs for storing media files (and Nandroid Backups!), rather than because you expect "performance".

I think he means that if you can get a 16 GB SDHC card that is not class 6, but class 4, and costs less, then you can go ahead and choose the class 4 - class 6 will not make a noticeable difference in speed.

Performance will be more or less identical for all read operations independent of the SD class rating of the card, and identical for both read and write operations when comparing two SD cards of the same SD speed class but of different storage capacity. So, adding storage capacity buys you no performance improvement.

If you inspect the SD card for files which are routinely created by apps (things like image thumbnails, etc), you will find that writes to the SD card are rather rare. And when you download files from the Internet, the rate limiting factor is the WiFi or 3G data rate limit - a few Mbits/sec - much less than the 16 Mbits/sec (2 MBytes/sec) rating of a Class 2 SD card. So, you might notice a slight improvement in writes of camera images, or writes of large files across the USB cable, but it is doubtful you will see across the board improvement in interactive responsiveness of the Eris by buying a class 4 or class 6 card.

It actually goes up to 32 GB. Which is the limit for the SDHC standard.

32 GB cards weren't out when the HTC page was published though, so you can't blame them for that.

True: I havent found one thats a reasonable price though..and 32gb is too big for an eris at least mine.

I've been running a 16GB since the day I got my phone. No idea on the "Class Rating", but everything works just fine.

I kinda regret buying the 16GB class 6. I should have gotten a class 4. At the time though i didn't find a post that compared the 2. Would have saved me a good $15 at the time.

Otherwise doubling up to 16GB is a good investment. I've only filled 7GB on my card so i was getting close to maxing out the 8GB. I also allocated 512MB for the apps2sd MOD which was my main reason for getting a faster class.

I would also say price wise if you can get a class 4 for cheaper get that instead.

I've heard the 32GB cards can vary, some work but it seems many aren't recognized.
