So I've had my Eris literally since the day it came out. After several months of trolling and research I decided to root the device. After several months of joyous overclocking at 786 my phone starts misbehaving... random resets, freezes, etc. So I do a nandrestore and back the OC down to 710 and all is well for the next few months. Couple weeks ago the random resets start again... first once a week, then every few days, and since three days ago it would be either plugged in, charging or just sitting in sleep mode and no amount of pressing the power button will wake it up. I take the battery out, replace it and try to power the device on and this only works about 20% of the time. I have to constantly remove the battery, put it back, press power and most of the time it won't respond at all. The few times that it does it will reset itself shortly after booting up... that is if it makes it through the full boot sequence before restarting again... and most of those times it won't get past the three little androids on skateboards. I contacted Verizon yesterday (I have an extended warranty/insurance/whatever) and explained to the tech what my phone was doing... he asked if I had tried doing a factory reset, which I told him I had, and he said "okay, I'll have a refurb over-nighted to you, you should have it by 3:00pm tomorrow." Fantastic. The refurb did indeed arrive as promised but now my original Eris won't boot up at all. I've tried putting the battery in about a dozen times to boot up the device and flash it back to stock but it won't even try to power on. Now, if the device is indeed dead, then Verizon may not ever find out that the device was rooted... but if I send it to them and they're somehow able to get it to power on and they see a strange boot sequence will I be charged for my replacement and put into Verizon's black book of naughty boys? Any help/advice/words of encouragement are most definitely welcome and will be appreciated.
