Is this the guide to be able to use rom manager to flash roms? Can I just download the 2 apps and start flashing away? I had an original Droid about a year ago that I used rom manager with, but now I'm on the Fascinate and would like to start playing around again.
Also, I'd like to follow the instructions and make a nandroid backup, but I'm having a hard time remembering/finding out how to make one.

Clockwork recovery has to be installed manually with odin. Clockworkmod installation how to for windows / *nix - xda-developers

It cant be flashed through the phone only

To make nandroid backups you boot into cwr and select backup and restore and then backup

Thanks. So if I follow your steps here, then I can use rom manager to flash between roms?

Install Clockwork recovery with above link, make nandroid with instructions in the link, then plug and play with rom manager?

Make sure you have samsung drivers installed and odin and the clockwork odin package

Put your phone in download mode (power off hold down volume and plug in usb)

Load odin and click pda button and load recovery clockwork

Click start.and let.jt do its thing

Once your phone is booted open rom manager and flash clockwork recovery (pick fascinate.obviously) twice....then click boot into recovery

In there you can make ur nandroid

When flashing stuff from rom manager or xda or wherever make sure its for whatever version u are on (in ur case atm id assume di01)

Don't select kernels, themes, or r0ms for dj05

And avoid anything named voodoo until you've read up on what it is and does

I created a backup using cmr in rom manager. Now when I go and click on "download rom", anything I select (jt1134....) it gives me the message "Error occurred while downloading the rom list! Please contact the developer of this rom" no matter what I select. What's the solution to this?

Is it necessary to create my own nandroid backup or can I just use the one here if I mess up? And do I have to do anything to use a nandroid file, or just flash it if things get messed up?

that is more of an "emergency" nandroid...but for the life of me i cant remember if it was DI01 or not (im assuming it was)...it wont backup any of your stuff, so really its only a last ditch thing for some

sometimes rom managers servers go offline...you will periodically see this happen...or if the uploader makes a mistake in the manifest....you can always try and wipe cache under manage applications and see if it was something on your end

Anyone have any ideas on this one? Thanks.

there ya go

I think I could be missing something. I'm still getting the same error message. After using odin to install cwm, my phone never rebooted. I tried it twice, but both times odin showed "successful" and just turned the phone off. I had to unplug it, put the battery back in, and turn it back on myself.

After using odin to flash cwm, is there anything else you're supposed to do before you can download roms through rom manager? Do you have to use rom manager through a recovery boot?

after odin, you have to go into rom manager....then select "flash clockwork recovery" select teh fascinate...then do this again....then try and boot into clockwork from rom manager

I did flash it like you said... twice, like some say has to be done. So I have to boot into clockwork in order to download roms? I can't download them right in the app rom manager?

you can download them in rom manager yes...most of us just flash them in clockwork after getting them from a site or something though

check if you can boot into clockwork first now though

Sorry for so many questions, but I just select "reboot in recovery" from rom manager and from there you do what? Select the rom you want to use? And how is navigating done while in recovery? I remember on the original Droid it was not with the touch screen.

well i just want to see if you can get into first....but yeah reboot into recovery

you navigate with the volume rocker...adn the power button is enter

Well I'm at work, so I'll have to try it out when I get home tonight. I need the phone throughout the day, and if I have a problem, I'll be in big trouble. Thanks for the help, everyone (and for the laughs).
Where is everyone getting the roms they're using? Are the ones in rom manager worth playing with? And do you all wipe data and cache before flashing new roms?

just trying to boot into cwr wont give you any trouble at all ;)

but if you re on DI01 (and you are) id go with jts 0.4 rom in rm....its also at xda...be on wifi though as its 150mb d/l

i always wipe data/cache when flashing but many dont and its fine
