I recieved an update for my unbranded HTC Legend today, but sadly it was not for Android 2.2. I now have Firmware version 2.1-update1, and Software version 2.05.405.2.

Anyone else had this?

I also received an email from HTC support (regarding an issue with MMS messages) saying:
"We would like to inform you that there will be an upgrade to your phone that will be released as FOTA from end of November.
We have continually been issuing updates through our website, so if you have missed any of those, this upgrade will contain the ones listed on our site. Beyond that, we

Still nothing from Orange. In saying that, looking at the problems others are experiencing, I might give the whole thing a swerve anyway.

I had the problems for a bit, they're gone now. mind you, my ROM isn't official, but my friend, who has the official one, confirms this because I told him to take his SIM card out, boot it up, turn it off, put the SIM card back in and it works :)

I had that ages ago... first time I've seen a carrier put it out before the unbranded folks get it!
Maybe you'll get a more flawless update than us Voda's

@jonathan.holvey and @Androidin' - Today my unbranded HTC Legend also notified me that 2.05.405.2 was available for update. I have heard about numerous problems with this update though, primarily lost of Wifi (and MAC address!) - see http://androidforums.com/htc-legend/134317-new-update-2-05-405-2-available-ota.html . Have you folks updated and all worked properly? Does your Wifi work afterwards? I'm in UK, you?

@Androidin' - did you find out if 2.05.405.2 is indeed a precursor to froyo?

@Everyone! - Anyone else who has froyo had to (or happened to) install 2.05.405.2 first?

@c_man - Is the link you posted (*** FOUND NEW VERSION 3.14.161.1 *** h**p://fotadl.htc.com/OTA_Legend_Froyo_S_Vodafone_UK_3.14.161.1-2.05.161.1_R_release_135177_156984u2k321537x1cpy3d .zip) the official update versions? I have an unbranded Legend.. all I have to do is just download and install this?

EDIT: Seems 2.05.405.2 might indeed be a precursor. http://androidandme.com/2010/12/pho...-ota-update-for-htc-legend-to-begin-tomorrow/

I had installation issues with 2.05.405.2, managed to sort it out and have been running that for a while now.
My phone has informed me that froyo 2.2 is available to install so I'm assuming you'll need to install 2.05.405.2 first.
If you do get the wifi issue, you should just be able to download froyo over your network rather then wifi and that would hopefully resolve the 2.05.405.2 wifi issue is you do come accross it.
Will install froyo tonight, been waiting long enough another 6 hours isn't going to kill me :p

Hey Martin.. thanks for the reply! Not sure what you mean by downloading froyo over my network.. expand? Is there a website online where I can download the official froyo to my pc then copy it to my phone or something?

What he means is if wifi is not working, use your carrier's data services to download the update. Mind you though that the update is about 85MB, so its pretty big, just make sure that you don't end up with a huge bill at the end of the month! If you've got an unlimited data plan, then no need to worry.

As far as I know, there isnt a website where you can download it, but I havent checked to be honest. There may be a way of downloading the update and then using HTC Sync to update. You might want to check that out.

Hope you get to update soon......I'm loving the 2.2!!
