Archos 101 December 8th

Obviously this is a "media hype" game. I thought companies refrained from this back in the 80's? FCC approves it many months ago, some are released. Then its always "out of stock". What, they ran out of screens? Or boxes to put the product into? What a joke, fed up waiting. Family will just have to suffer with 64gb iPads. They will just have to adjust just as anyone would leaving the Win32 platform to move over to Linux. I don't like Apple anything, but at least the products exist.


I bought 4 of the 64gb iPad's, and guess what? They were in stock, shipped, and arrived today!


I dont play the media -hype a product- BS, and it was all from one moron tech reporter who dubbed the Archos 101 "a rival to the iPad". How can you "rival" something that does not exist, a photograph and lot's of words? Hahahaha


Shame too, for the price of these 4 iPads I could have purchased 8 of the 101's.

If you were looking for tablet computers for the fam 6 months ago, you woulda had the exact same problem with the iPad.

If you have the kind of money to waste you rly shouldn't of been looking at the Archos 101 anyway. Not sure how you can compare a small ish company like Archos to a huge company like Apple. Apple obviously has more money and contracts with companies to be able to manufacture more of the tablets.

I highly doubt this is a game. If they had the tablets to sell then they would be out there to sell. Esp considering the time they have released this. You don't think they want everyone to have these by Christmas? Hype will mean nothing when the big boy tablets come out beginning next year. This is a value tablet with fairly outdated interiors.

But yah, Grats on your iPads.

The 101 is worth the short wait.

Let's consider total cost of ownership.

iPads cost twice an much and then you get to pay for most of your apps. iPad apps are more expensive than iPhone apps in most cases. Those iPads under your tree will end up costing a grip.

I have the archos A70 and it mops the floor with the iPad in almost all areas that matter.

Let us know how your wrists feel after reading a book or holding the iPad to watch a movie. How long did you last?

Don't get me started on the release of iPad2 coming in March.

He has a valid point. These things were meant to release early November, it is now early Decemeber, and people want to buy these things for gifts.

I also don't understand how a company can say they will release on particular dates and then repeatedly fail to meet these promises. It's like me as a trade contractor telling someone I will do their job on a particular date and then not keeping the promise. So much have tradies abused customers they are world renowned for not keeping their promises with when they will show up.

Are Archos and numerous other companies "releasing" Android tablets just empty promisers? As a customer it is annoying.

I agree. It's been frustrating. But, as someone who has been watching for months (those youtube videos KILL me making me want it now!) I can say it's getting better. It seems the supply goes up each day after they finally released 2.2 for it.

Third parties are getting them now, not just archos. They sell out fast. I ordered two from Amazon yesterday. It was a hell of a lot easier getting these than a wii when I got that.

But the difference here is the item is released. Its not like these are pushed back like crazy from delays. They are just being sold out too fast for certain ppl to buy.

I am hoping to receive one(70 model)under the Christmas tree and after watching reviews ALL day yest. of ppl with them, I am super excited to get my hands on one.

But I am sympathetic to the fact that not everything works out perfectly. They can't just make a billion of these out of thin air so everyone who wants one has one.

To the PP...Were they in stock when you ordered or are they due in stock soon and will ship asap?

Shrug....Even large companies have problems with demand. Like PP mentioned about Wii....Was rly hard to find and so was the Fit iirc when it first was released. Also look at the Evo and how that was oos most places for a long time. When the demand is high its just not always possible to keep up with it.

They do seem to be getting it out there now though. I check about 4-5 diff sites to see which has it in. Most say out of stock but like I posted above tiger has it currently in stock ready to ship today. If it was the 8gb I think I would prob hop on it and have them both because I am impatient and crazy.

Supposed to come in stock to ship tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed. It is not available for order now, so I assume I got my order in within what they expected to arrive from Archos.

I got mine at the end of the first week, meaning it shipped November 1. As far as I'm concerbed, they kept their word.

I'm guessing that the mislabeled tablets were originally meant to go to the us. But got recalled because of the missing t, so it went to the guys that don't mind.
